OBIT - JAMES EDWARD MOORE

The death of JAMES EDWARD MOORE occurred Feb. 4th, at the home of his parents, Mr. & Mrs. WILLIAM MOORE, Mansfield, aged 22 years. The deceased although not enjoying very good health went West in March 1918 in hopes that he might be benefited both physically and financially and was making good financially when he was notified to report for duty when engaged on a farm near Cabri, Sask. He accordingly reported for duty, was examined and joined the ranks to fight for his country. But his health would not bear him out in his works and for a time he was confined to the Military hospital. However, he got his discharge not being able to stand drill. While convalescent he met with some friends with whom he stayed until he recovered sufficiently to do light work and early in Nov. he started for the old home down East, falling a victim to influenza enroute to his home here. He reached Mr. JAMES DOBSON's not being able to go farther he stayed several weeks at the home of Mr. DOBSON growing weaker. Desiring to see his own home once more a friend conveyed him by car to that place where he gradually grew worse with the result stated above. The deceased leaves to mourn beside a sorrowing father and mother and several brothers and sisters and a large number of friends both old and young by whom he will be very much missed.

The remains were laid to rest last Thursday afternoon, Rev. P.R. HAYDEN conducted the services at the home and grave. He based his discourse on James 4th chapter 14 verse, "What is life, a vapor which appeareth for a moment. “I shall know Him by the print of the nails inn His hands" was sung. Also a piece composed by Mrs. GAY JOHNSON, which was sung by the composer assisted by Rev. P.R. HAYDEN.

Councillor ELISHA MacDOUGALL was funeral director. A large number followed the remains to their last resting place. Burial took place in the cemetery in this place, Mansfield. It will be remembered by some of his friends that the deceased enlisted with the 193rd and if he had not contracted measles which left him unfit for service he no doubt would have done his bit over seas with that company.

One precious to our hearts has gone,
The voice we loved is stilled.
The place made vacant in our home
Can never more be filled.
Our Father in His wisdom called.
The boon His love had given;
And though on earth the body lies,
The soul is safe in Heaven.
