A large section of Tatamagouche village was destroyed by fire Sunday night, July 30, despite the assistance of firemen from River John, Wallace, Oxford, Pictou and Truro. The stores of H.R. Bonnyman and Company, Quality Hardware Store, Menzie and Langille's general store were burned and the store of L.G. Buckler was badly damaged.

DICKIE, Douglas H. passed away at the West Nipissing General Hospital in Sturgeon Falls on Friday, July 14, 2000, at the age of 56. He is the son of Sadie Dickie of Amherst, NS and the late Melvin Dickie of Oxford, NS. He is survived by wife Sue; three sons, Richard of Ontario, Barry of Ontario and Terry Douglas of Ontario; one daughter, Sheri-Lee of Ontario; three brothers, Reg of Ontario, Donnie of Oxford, NS and David of Amherst, NS; three sisters, Charlotte of Moncton, NB, Arlene of Ontario, and Madelene of Ontario; two step-children, Jenny and Wesley Harrison, grandson, Emmanuel.

PURDY, John - passed away August 9, 1989.
STEVENS, Daisy, passed away August 8, 1990.
CARTER, William N. - Passed away August 9, 1953.
