One of Oxford's oldest landmarks was destroyed by fire New Year's night, Jan1, 2001. The building, believed to be about 100 years old, was built by a Mr. Jamieson, who operated a store. Then bought by Stanley Marchant in 1903, where the Oxford Journal was published until 1954.
The building was next used as a flour and feed store, operated by Lawrence Patterson. It also served as one of Oxford's most popular restaurant, known simply as "Marg's". At the time of fire, it was G.K. Pizza.
