OBIT ­ JOHN CAMERON
There passed to rest on Friday, April 12th at his home in West
Tatamagouche, Col. Co., JOHN CAMERON, aged 73 years. He died of pneumonia, being only confined to house a week, but has been in failing health for years. The deceased was a member of Presbyterian Church and will be greatly missed in the community where he has always lived since a small boy. He leaves to mourn his loss a widow and 5 children, Mrs. CHAS. CLONEY of Oxford, ALLAN of Wawanesa, Man.

ALEX, MAGGIE, ANNIE at home. Much sympathy is extended to sorrowing family in their loss of a kind father. Rev. Pentlelow of Wallace, conducted funeral service, burial Bay Head Cemetery.

*OBIT - Miss ADA G. LEWIS
The very lamentable death of Miss Ada G. LEWIS, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. DAVID P. LEWIS of Norton, N.B., formerly of Cumberland Co. N.S., occurred on Wednesday morning, April 10th, 1918 at the St. John Infirmary, at the early age of 16 years, death coming with severe suddenness, making the family of 6 sisters, all at home.

The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. & Mrs. LEWIS and family in the early passing of this bright young life, which gave promise of a splendid future. It was amidst manifestations of profound sorrow that her funeral took place on Friday afternoon, from her late residence. Previous to leaving the house a brief service was conducted by Rev. R. H. STAVERT and Rev. C. W. WALDEN. The scholars of the public school formed up at the house and the sad procession marched to the Presbyterian Church where the service was conducted by Rev. R . H. STAVERT, assisted by Rev. C. W. WALDON pastor of the Baptist Church and by Rev. Mr. McKENZIE of New York. Interment in River Bank cemetery. The following school mates of the deceased acted as pallbearers; ARTHUR WILKINS, LeROY MYRES, LISLE HEINE, ERNIE MYERS, NED ALLABY and EARLE PATRIQUIN.
The floral tributes were many and beautiful.

**OBIT - Miss MABEL O'BRIEN
Miss MABEL O'BRIEN of Upper Middleboro passed away on Wednesday, April 24th at Wrentham, Mass., Hospital at the early age of 23 years, after an illness of 2 weeks. She was a daughter of Mr. & Mrs. MURRAY O'BRIEN of Upper Middleboro. A few years ago, Miss O'BRIEN began a course of study as a professional nurse in the Wrentham Hospital. Her demise is an occasion of deep sorrow to many relatives and friends. The remains were brought home, accompanied by her mother and 2 sisters, Mrs. CHAS. D. LEONARD of Wrentham and Mrs. Geo. C. SMITH of Dorchester, Mass.

There are 3 other sisters, Mrs. SELDON C. SMITH, Lower Wentworth and Misses MAY and JEAN, twins at home. Also 2 brothers, ALLEN R., Moncton and AVERY at home.

There was a very large funeral on Sunday afternoon. Rev. A. LUND conducting the service. The hymns sung were, Safe in the Arms of Jesus, Beautiful Isle of Somewhere, There’ll be no Dark Valley When Jesus Comes, Some Day the Silver Cord Will Break, I Shall Know My Redeemer, We’ll Never Say Goodbye in Heaven.

The pallbearers were CLIFFORD MONTROSE, LINDSAY FOUNTAIN, MILLARD WOODWORTH and EARL FOUNTAIN.

Lobster Fisherman Drowned at Pugwash
Mr. WILLIAM ANSTERD, a fisherman employed at the lobster packing plant of Mr. WELDON JAMIESON, Gulf Shore, lost his life by drowning on Friday, 26th. The deceased was a native of Ship Harbor, N.S. He has fished along the coast for the past 15 years, coming up for the fishing season and returning to his home at the close. This year his wife and 2 children accompanied him, all of whom were employed at the factory. Further particulars next week.

BLACK - CHRISTENSEN
A charming wedding that was an event of last evening in this City was that of Miss ADA LILLA BLACK, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. RUFUS F. BLACK of Oxford, N.S., and WILLIAM MATHIAS CHRISTENSEN, son of Mr. & Mrs. CHRISTIAN CHRISTENSEN of Cumberland Center. The ceremony took place at 180 Brackett St. at 8:30, the Rev. John H. McLEAN officiating. The double ring service was used. The bride was lovely in a gown of white satin with trimmings of crystal. Her tulle veil was caught with valley lilies and the bridal bouquet was of white roses. Her only ornament was a string of pearls, the gift of the groom.

The bride's only attendant was her sister, EMMA ESTELLE BLACK, who wore a pretty gown of nile green messaline with silver trimmings and carried pink sweet peas. The maid of honor wore in her hair a large comb set with brilliants which was a gift of the bride. The groom's gift to his attendant, ELMER FRANCIS SMITH of Falmouth, was a pair of gold cuff links. He presented MADELINE PEASLEY, one of the little ring bearers, with a string of pearls, and the other ring bearer, HUBERT BECKWITH, with a gold Flag pin.
The color scheme for the decorations was pink and green and was carried out with roses and evergreen. The Zarith orchestra played the Mendelsohn Wedding march. The ushers were RALPH THOMPSON and RALPH PRINCE.

After the ceremony there was a reception at which Mrs. HARRY BECKWITH, sister of the bride, assisted with the receiving. Mrs. L. G. GRIGGS had charge of the serving and she was assisted by Miss MARJORIE FAY, Miss THELMA BROWN, Miss AGNES OLSEN and Miss GEORGIA BLACK. Miss GLENNIE BLACK was in charge of the guest book. Mrs. LeROY HENDRICKS was in charge of the gifts. Mr. & Mrs. CHRISTENSEN left on a wedding trip, the bride wearing a traveling costume of burgundy gabardine with hat to match. They will make their home at 180 Bracket St. The groom is employed as bookkeeper by Swift & Co.

Died of Wounds
G. H. SMITH of Nappan, Mounted Rifles, is reported as having died of wounds.

The 10 month old daughter of Mr. & Mrs. MELVIN RUSHTON, passed away last evening.

Mrs. WYLIE GILROY attended the funeral of her uncle, the late EDWARD DINGLE, in Parrsboro.

** Miss MARY KENEALLY of Boston arrived in Oxford, N.S., and will spend some months with her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. J. C. McCORMACK.

SOLOMON KEIVER of Springhill dropped dead at Valley Road recently, while buying calves in the yard of Mr. THOMAS KNIGHT. He was formerly in the butcher business in Oxford and was well known in the county.

The Engagement is announced of Miss LUELLA, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. HOWARD THOMPSON to Mr. FRANK W. SMITH of Fenwick. The wedding will take place at the residence of the bride's parents, on May 14th.

At her home on Pacific Ave, Vineyard, Mass, Mrs. FRANCES E., wife of Mr. JOHN D. BAIRD. Mrs. BAIRD was a daughter of the late DANIEL FREEMAN of Amherst, NS.

Mrs. J. H. BROWNELL died a week ago and was buried across the river in the new cemetery. She was a Miss MARY ARCHER from Iona, her sister HELEN ARCHER was with her when she died. She leaves one son,
