This locality is south of Antigonish. A descriptive term, formerly
called "Pinedale," the school section was known as "Pitcher's Farm"
but was closed in 1931. A new school was built in 1950.
Rev. Dougald Gillis, D.D., for many years professor at St. Francis
Xavier University was born at Pinevale.
Among the early grantees were Donald McDonald, Alexander McLean,
John McDonald, Neil Cameron, Donald Cameron, Donald Gillis, Hugh Gillis
and Hugh Cameron.
The population in 1956 was 51

Locality south of Antigonish.
Names after Moses Pitcher who had received a grant of five hundred
acres there in 1811.
