INTRODUCTION.

"Central Asia is revealed to be an important reservoir of genetic diversity, and the source of at least three waves of migration, leading into Europe, the Americas and India." Modern humans migrated out of Africa into Central Asia before spreading both east and west into North America and Europe, says an international team of scientists who have used modern DNA analysis to trace ancient migrations. "Around 40-50,000 years ago, [approximately 2000 generations] Central Asia was full of tropical trees, a good place for hunting and fishing," said Nadira Yuldasheva of the Institute of Immunology at the Academy of Sciences, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. "Then, as desertification came in, some people moved west into Europe and some moved into Siberia, [India] and on into North [and South] America." A successful freighting business enabled him to invest in several local properties and enterprises, including an innovative dam/grist mill operation at this site. He expanded the mill's water and hydroelectric generation capabilities and in the 1890s provided the city its first water and electric utility systems. His entrepreneurial and business legacy represent an important part of the city's development. (1994)

BENNER.

BENNER FAMILY CREST & COAT OF ARMS.

BENNER.

"Origin Displayed: German.

Spelling variations include: BANER, BANNER, BAYNER, BAINER and others. First found in East Prussia and Silesia, where the name came from humble beginnings but gained a significant reputation for its contribution to the emerging mediaeval society.

Some of the first settlers of this name or some of its variants were: ADAM BANER, who was recorded in Maryland in 1774; GEORG BANER, who came to Philadelphia in 1803; CHRISTIAN BENNER, his wife ANNA MARGARETHA and their children, who arrived in Philadelphia in 1749." (7) The above quote is from House of Names.com.

The certificate of death for LOUISA "LIZZIE" BENNER LORENZ lists AUGUST BENNER and HELENE ADLE as parents both born in Germany. The below HEINRICH (HENRY) BENNER family in the 1860 New Braunfels, Comal Co. and 1870 Lockhart, Caldwell Co. Texas census has AUGUST BENNER age sixteen in 1870. A book compiled by BENNER descendants lists the birth of LOUISA BENNER, daughter of HEINRICH (HENRY) BENNER, as 26 June 1864 Hortontown, TX. This LOUISA BENNER married Dr. ALBERT JOHNSON and is buried in Fredericksburg, TX. The LOUISA BENNER born 18 May 1870, therefore, is not the daughter of HEINRICH (HENRY) BENNER living in the 1860 New Braunfels, Comal Co. and 1870 Lockhart, Caldwell Co. Texas census. The possibility does exist that she is the offspring of his son AUGUST BENNER.

There is a HENRY BRENNER (BREMER) in the 1900 Guadalupe Co. TX census, Justice Precinct No. 1, (South of the River) page 161 born January 1860 that matches HEINRICH BRENNER, son of WILHELM BRENNER and CATHARNA DICK, born 16 January 1860 in Sechtem, Rheinland, Preussen (Prussia). He declared his intention to become a United States citizen on 3 November 1884. And a SOPHIA BRENNER married in Guadalupe Co. on 10 July 1886.

The most likely candidate, however, for the father of LOUISA "LIZZIE" BENNER born 18 May 1870 is the AUGUST BENNER in the 1860 Bexar Co. TX census age fourteen and twenty-four years old in the 1870 Kendall Co. TX census. This AUGUST BENNER married CAROLINE ERTEL (EREL, ESTEL) in Kendall Co. TX. AUGUST and CAROLINE or HELENE, as stated in the above certificate of death, were born in Germany. Census images for both AUGUST BENNER'S are available below.
