Our chapter was organized in 1966. Tucumcari (pronounced TOO-kum-kair-ee,) is located on Interstate 40, near the Texas border, at the base of the Tucumcari Mountain, which is one of New Mexico's well known landmarks. It is also famous for being on the Old Route 66. There are many interesting legends concerning the origin of the name Tucumcari. The Indians, who came into this area more than 10,000 years ago, knew it as the "place of the buffalo hunt." Our chapter meets the second Friday of each month from September to May. We cordially invite you to CONTACT Registrar Gwendolyn Gray for membership information.
