Cemetery information update page
We receive information from our visitors from
time to time pertaining to their family, cemetery, or burial information. This information
often contains history of the locality and of Sierra County as well as the subject
people. While we do not update the published books, web pages, or cemetery listings with
information that is not or can not be documented we do present that information here as a
addendum that can be read and taken for what it's worth by other researchers. The
information is presented here by cemetery location. |

According to family history records:
Edward B. Nelson died Oct 13, 1902 on the family property and was buried in Arrey on Oct 19,1902.
His wife, Agnes died Mar 16, 1915 and was buried in Arrey on March 17th, 1915.
What I think I know for sure is that they were living on the north end of Derry, at the point where the
Rio Grande crosses the old highway.

My brother Joseph A. Trujillo passed away
September 17th and his remains have been buried at the Arrey Cemetery. I found a
website (http://www.interment.net/data/us/nm/sierra/arrey/arrey.htm)
that lists all the persons that have been buried
at this cemetery and was wondering who I have to contact to get the web site updated with
Joseph's name. Joseph's (and my) Grandfather (Gregorio Bencomo), Grandmother (Elvira
Bencomo), Uncle (Emidio Bencomo) and numerous other family members are buried at the
cemetery and theyare on the web site. I would like very much to update the website
to include Joseph's name. Joseph was born on July 14, 1965 and was 39 years old when he
passed. His date of death is September 17, 2004. His remains were
cremated. He was not a veteran of any military service. I don't know the section,
row or plot number but in the cemetary, we placed his remains next to Emidio Bencomo's
grave. In the cemetary, if you facing west, going from left to right, the plots are
as follows:
Elvira Bencomo
Gregorio Bencomo
Emidio Bencomo
Joseph Trujillo

Subject: Hermosa cemetery/history
I am researching family history. The Emerick's buried in the old cemetery are children of Martha Cox Emerick, daughter of Henry Clay Cox and Julie Ann Murry. She had a sister name Tibithea, sometimes called Tabitha Cox Collins, also went by the name of Tabitha Graham married to an outlaw name John Graham, John Collins, Shotgun John Collins, a.k.a. Abraham Gerden Graham born on Mitchell Swamp Horry County South Carolina 1851 and died 1922 in El Paso Texas. He rode with Billy the Kid gang of rustlers and was one of the Dodge City Peace Commissioners in Dodge City Kansas, rode with Wyatt Earp, Doc Holiday, Bat Masterson, Billy the Kid, Pat Garrett and many other notorious outlaws.
Shotgun John Collins family lived here for a while also.
Would you possible know any descendants of these folks...how I can contact them and if possible a photo of the old cemetery. I would really appreciate any information and help you can contribute. I have a photo of Martha Cox Emerick.
Best Regards,
Carolyn Buckley

I am sending you some corrections on the
Beals graves in Lake Valley that you have posted on the internet. They are the
ancestors of Matti and I, and we put up new stones after the cemetery was recorded by the
genealogy society. The two Beals you have with question marks are :
William Guy Beals Mar. 21 1853 - Dec. 24
1937
Ida Ann Morrish Beals May 24 1858 - Dec 25 1933
These two are listed but the dates are wrong.
Morel Morrish Beals 1893 -
1909
Julia Beals 1822 - 1912

Lucia Ann Armijo
Las Palomas Cemetery
Unmarked grave and unknown location
My mother has given me a couple of updates regarding my sister, Lucia
Ann's grave.
She let me know that there is no record of her being buried there. In
those days
they just buried the infants wherever they saw fit. A death certificate was
not
even made out for her. My mother is a little sketchy on her birth date.
She isn't sure if it is: November 15, 1951 or 1952.
She was only 15 days old when she died.
We do know that she was buried near another infant cousin. And our
family did place a grave marker there a couple of years ago.
Sheri Armijo
