Curry County Genealogical Society
GOALS: of the Curry
County Genealogical
Society are to PREPARE, PUBLISH and to PRESERVE records of genealogical value.
MEETINGS: are held at 7pm
in the Genealogy Room at the Clovis-Carver Public Library, 7th and
Main Streets, Clovis,
NM the first Monday of
January through May and September through November with the September meeting
on the 2nd Monday evening. No meetings are held in June, July,

HISTORY: In 1985 Tom Humphrey, Head Librarian at Eastern
New Mexico University
Clovis Campus, conducted a genealogy class
during the Spring semester. At the final class, an
announcement was made regarding the organization of a genealogical society in Clovis.
A meeting was called to see if there was sufficient support to establish such a
society. The response was excellent with 20 persons present for the meeting and
on May 13, 1985
the Curry County
Genealogical Society was organized. The first official meeting was held on June 3, 1985 with 31
present. The suggestion was put forth that Charter Members should be any person
who joined the Society by November 30, 1985. The Charter Member list included
40 members.
WORKS: The society has successfully prepared,
published and preserved indexes of marriages in Curry County, funeral home
records of Curry County
and obituaries of the Clovis News Journal.
Programs are given at each meeting by members of the society and others that
are educational and informative on a broad range of genealogical topics.
