349- Eliseo Gallegos 20-1/2 years of Del Norte, Colo. Died 20 April 1913 at 12:00 AM. He drowned while in the Rio Grande. He was with his brother Tomas. It is believed that he suffered one of the nervous attack he suffered from while he was in the water and drowned. Survived by mother Serefina Atencio, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

350- George Dominguez Age 36 of Capulin Conejos County Colo. Died 17 April 1913 at 1:00 PM. He was born in Del Norte, Colo. Survived by father Elfego Dominguez; Wife Balbaneda A. Dominguez and 3 children. Buried in the Capulin Colo Cemetery.

351- Francisco Jaramillo Age 85 of Vallecitos, NM. Died 6 May 1913 at 7:00 AM. Survived by wife Maria Nepomucena M. de Jaramillo; Son Jose Eliseo Jaramillo; Daughter Maria Ascencion J. de Gonzales. Buried in the Vallecitos NM Cemetery.

352- Eliza Martinez de Gonzales Age 25 of Fruita, Colo. Died 30 April 1913 11:30 AM. She was the adopted daughter of the deceased Juan A. Martinez of Abiquiu, NM. Survived by husband Jose E. Gonzales and 2 children. Buried in the Fruita, Colo Catholic Cemetery.

353- Cornalia P. Lemos of Valdez, NM. Died 4 May 1916 6:00 AM at childbirth. Survived by husband Pablo Lemos, 2 children; Father David Prando and sister Francisquita P. Cordova. Born 25 Sept 1886. Married 25 Jan 1906.

354- Maria Ernestina Romero Age 17 months of Cadoma, Wyo. Died 27 April 1913. First born child of Begino Romero and Maria Eutimia Romero.

355- Juan S. Rael Age 23 of Questa, NM. Died 11 April 1913 at 9:00 AM of Pulmonia (Pneumonia). Survived by mother Isabelita G. de Rael, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

356- Pedro Lucero Of Trinchera, Colo. Died 17 April 1913 at 12:30 PM. He was born in Taos, NM 6 Aug 1847. Son of Reyes Lucero and Jesusita L. de Lucero. He married Maria De La Luz Padilla in 1869. Pedro Lucero was one of the first settlers of Trincherea Col residing here since 1870. Survived by children Alberto, Anastacio, Maximiliano, Teodorita, Lucinda and Ignacita Lucero.

357- Maria P. de Martinez Age 22 of Black Lake, NM. Died at childbirth 5 May 1913 in her residence. Survived by husband Teofilo Martinez, 3 children; Parents Juan Antonio Pacheco and Candelaria F. de Pacheco.

358- Doloritas L. de Cisneros Age 54 of Questa, NM. Died May 1913. Survived by husband Dionicio Sisneros, 6 sons and 3 daughters; Brother Narciso LaForet.

359- Luis Cardnes Age 58 of El Prado, NM. Died 30 May 1913 of Pulmonia (Pneumonia). Survived by 5 sons, 3 daughters, 1 brother and 1 sister. Names not listed.

360- Demetrio Santistevan of Costilla, NM. He was involved For many years in politics and was the leader of the Republican party in the northern part of Taos County. No age or date of death listed. News paper edition dated 6 June 1913. Survived by wife and several children. Names not listed.

361- Miguel Esquibel Age 70 of Ranchitos de Arriba Taos, NM. Died at his residence monday of this week (9 June 1913). Survived by wife and children. Names not listed.

362- Cornelia Segura de Cordova of San Cristobal, NM. Died 4 June 1913 at 5:00 AM.

363- Juan B. Ortega of El Valle, NM. Died last thursday 5 June 1913. He was a lawyer, served as commissioner of Taos County Public School and as Taos County Commissioner. He suffered from Hidropesia (Edema). Survived by wife Juana Maria Dominguez; Children Abel, Eliseo, Adelaida, Emilia, Eliza, Matilde and Maria De La Luz Ortega.

364- Santana Lopez of ojo Caliente, NM. Died 4 June 1913 from injuried he received 31 May 1913. He was going down la Barranca de Los Cerritos carrying a tank of oil in his horse drawn wagon. The tank slipped and knocked him of the wagon to the ground where the wagon wheel ran over his back, breaking his spine. He is survived by his wife Perfecta Lopez; Children Claudio, Margarita, Estefanita, Vicente and Catarina Lopez.

365- Jacobo Maestas Age 23 of Chama, NM. Died 26 May 1913. Survived by his mother Rumaldita M. Maestas, Brother and grandfather. Names not listed.

366- Bobe La Febre Age 2 months and 3 days of Ocate, NM. Died 8 May 1913. Parents Charles La Febre and Ruben S. de La Febre.

367- Maria Andreita Arellano of Arroyo Hondo, NM. Died. No dates noted.

368- Amada Velasquez Age 24 of Paisage, Colo. Died 9 June 1913 at 3:00 PM after suffering 4 days from a gun shot wound. She was on the 2nd floor of her home working when a rifle 25 caliber fell discharging a bullet that struck her and crossed her body. She is survived by her parents Jose Noberto Velasquez and Julianita de Velasquez and 9 siblings. Buried in the Conejos Colo Cemetery.

369- Miguel Esquibel Age 75 of Ranchitos de Arriba Taos, NM. Died 9 June 1913. He was a veteran of the 1860 civil war. Survived by wife Sicilia F. de Esquibel, 4 daughter and 1 son.

370- Celina Lucero de Fernandez Age 22 of Ranchitos de Abajo Taos, NM. Died 23 June 1913 3: PM at childbirth. Born in Canon de Taos, NM 22 May 1890. Survived by husband Samuel Fernandez, a son 2 years old and the recently born one; Father Donaciano Lucero and Barbarita M. de Lucero.

371- Teodorita Trujillo Age 6 of Ranchitos Taos, NM. Died of the Scarlet Fever 22 May 1913 at 10:00 PM. Survived by parents Francisco Trujillo and Bersabe M. de Trujillo and grandfather Faustin Trujillo.

372- Francisco Gauna of Raton, NM. Died at the Miners hospital in Raton, NM 15 June 1913 at 4:45 PM. Where he had been taken for treatment of Pulmonia (Pneumonia) that he was suffering with. He was serving his 2nd term as city council member for the city of Raton, NM. He had been a member of the delegation to create the New Mexico State Constitution.

373- Maria Julianita Roybal of Chamisal, NM. Died 15 June 1913 at 4:30 AM. Survived by 5 sons and 1 daughters. Buried in the Chamisal, NM Cemetery.

374- Rosaura Salazar Age 16 of Los Canones Rio Arriba County, NM. Died 12 June 1913. Survived by parents Manuel R. Salazar and Delfina M. de Salazar.

375- Octaviano Alejandro Trujillo Age 3 years, 1 month and 15 days of Black Lake, NM. Died 9 June 1913. Son of Esteban Trujillo and Socorro M. de Trujillo.

376- Andreita A. Rodriguez Age 20 of Arroyo Hondo, NM. Died 28 May 1913. Survived by Husband Toribio J. Rodriguez.

377- Eduvigen Arellano Age 7 of Arroyo Hondo, NM. Died 27 May 1913. Parents Jose Ines Arellano and Maria P. de Arellano.

378- Flor Martinez Age 75 of Arroyo Hondo, NM. Died wednesday 9 July 1913. He was a ditch commissioner and wanted to go apportion the water. He mounted his horse and it started bucking and threw Flor Martinez to the ground on his head killing him instantly. Survived by his wife Juanita A. de Martinez and a daughter Cordilia Martinez.

379- Jose Alfonso Medina Age 7 of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died of Scarlet Fever and Diphtheria 25 June 1913 at 7:00 AM. Survived by parents Nabor Martinez and Maria Guadalupe Medina.

380- Adelia Herrera Age 19 years, 11 months and 3 days of Chamita, NM. Died 12 June 1913 at 7:30 PM. Survived by parents Cresencio Herrera and Josefa F. de Herrera, 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Names not listed.

381- Guadalupe Arellano Age 50 years and 7 months of Pima, NM. Died 8 July 1913 at 5:00 PM. Survived by wife Maria Valdez de Arellano, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

382- Maria Dilia Garcia Age 2 months of Arroyo Seco, NM. Died 12 July 1913. Parents Feliberto Garcia and wife. Name not listed.

383- Emelina Mondragon of Llano Quemado, NM. Died 15 July 1913 of Scarlet Fever. Parents Emilio Mondragon and Cleofas R. de Mondragon.

384- Fidel Martinez Age 31 of Palo Blanco Union County, NM. Was killed by lightening Tuesday 22 July 1913. He was herding sheep at the time. Survived by parents Gabriel Martinez and Salome de Martinez.

385- Carolina Trujillo Age 18-1/2 years of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died at Childbirth 17 July 1913. She was born 3 Jan 1895. Survived by husband Flavio Gonzales; Parents Teodoro Trujillo and Carlota Medina.

386- Ramon Sandoval Age 64 years and 6 months of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died in Largo, NM 23 July 1913 of cancer. He was born in Ranchos de Taos, NM in 1849. Survived by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, 3 sons and 1 daughter. Names not listed.

387- Felicita C. de Sanchez Age 23 years and 3 months of Santa Cruz, NM. Died 10 July 1913. Survived by husband Pedro Sanchez; Parents Francisco Chavez and Rosalia E. de Chavez.

388- Antonio Dominguez Age 40 of Pecos, NM. Died 16 July 1913 at 4:00 AM. Son of Antonio Dominguez and Encarnacion L. de Dominguez, 1 daughter, 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

389- Enrique Lobato Age 20 of Chama, Colo. Son of Jose F. Lobato and Crucita S. de Lobato. No date of death listed. He was well educated having attended the Catholic School in Trinidad, Colo and the Saint Michael College in Santa Fe, NM.

390- Alfredo Duran Age 8 years old of Canon de Fernandez, NM. Died 27 July 1913. He died of Hidropesia (Edema). Son of Jesus M. Duran and Virginia M. de Duran.

391- Manuel Roybal y Montoya of Espanola, NM. Died 31 July 1913 at 3:30 PM of Pneumonia. Survived by wife Maria Isa M. de Roybal, 3 daughters 1 son; Sister Maria Ignacia R. de Lujan of Durango, Colo.

392- Jose Cledoveo Arellano Age 6 years and 3 months of Arroyo Hondo, NM. Died 24 June 1913. Survived by parents Manuel Arellano and Maria Guadalupe Arellano.

393- Rafael Valencia y Lobato Age 67 of Arroyo Seco Abajo, NM. Died 11:00 AM 26 Aug 1913. Survived by wife Dionicia M. de Valencia; Sons Cenovio and P. A. Valencia.

394- Vidal Sanchez Age 54 of Penasco, NM. Died at 2:00 PM 23 Aug 1913. Survived by wife (No name listed); Children Jacobo, Toribio, Vidal and Francisquita Sanchez; Brothers Ramon and Francisco Sanchez; Sister Maria Ignacia S. Wife of Gavino Rivera. Buried in the Penasco, NM cemetery.

395- Juan Francisco Montoya of Mogote, Colo. Died 8 Aug 1913. He died out in the field in his camp while taking care of his sheep, The camp was located where the Rio de Los Pinos start, about 18 miles from his residence. He was born in Servilleta, NM in 1855. He married Dubigen Abeyta in 1878. He is survived by 4 daughters, 3 sons and 2 adopted sons. Names not listed.

396- Domingo Gallegos Age 63 years, 9 months and 9 days of Cerro, NM. Died 14 Aug 1913. He was born in Cerro, NM 5 Nov 1849. Survived by wife Manuelita Gallegos; Sons Antonio and Gilbas Gallegos.

397- Melquiades Rael Taos County Assessor of Questa, NM. Was killed in his residence last sunday (24 Aug 1913). He and Juan De Dios Roybal had been business partners in a tavern/bar they had owned and closed. Roybal felt that the assets had not been divided equally and that he had not been treated fairly. That he was still owed some money. Juan de Dios Roybal was a resident of Taos, NM but was originally from Baldy, NM. He went to Questa and spoke with Rael in a pleasant manner and he was invited to spend the night in the Rael's residence. He spent the night in a bed in a room next to Melquiades Raels bed room. The Raels had a sick child that they were tending to. Roybal keep getting up all night but the Raels though that his advanced age (he is between 70 & 75 years old) was making him get up. Early in the morning when everyone had gone to sleep Roybal wrapped in a serape shot Melquiades Rael.He was seen by 2 little girls that were sleeping near Melquiades Rael and were woken up by the shot. They alerted the rest of the family but Juan de Dios Roybal had fled the area and was no where to be seen. Later in the week he was seen going towards "E" town (Elizabeth Town). 5 Sept 1913 he was apprehended near Maxwell City Colfax County, NM. Days before the shooting he had written several letters in which he said he was not dealt fairly by Rael but that he would take care of the matter one way or another. Juan de Dios Roybal admitted in his preliminary court hearing before District Court Judge Leid that he had shot Melquiades Rael.

398- Felix Medina of Chacon, NM. Died 28 August 1913. He was born in Mora, NM in 1871. He married Sofia Mares in 1892. Surviving him is his wife, 2 daughters and 2 sons. Names not listed.

399- Tranquilino Cisneros Age 21 and Manuel Herrera Age 15 were found frozen to death 23 Sept 1913. In the Carson forrest in the Taos Sierra. They were herding sheep and that week there was a severe cold front that dumped up to 4 feet of snow with very high winds. They were not able to make it to their camp and could not make a fire. Tranquilino Cisneros was the son of Vidal Cisneros and Guadalupe M. de Cisneros from El Prado, NM. Manuel Herrera was the grandson of Juan A. Martinez from Talpa, NM. He was orphaned of father and mother.

400- Juanita Albaria Martinez Age 23 days of Chimayo, NM. Died 13 Sept 1913. Parents Estanislao Martinez and Manuela Anastasia B. de Martinez.

401- Sencionita M. Basquez Age 50 of Ranchos de Taos, NM. Died 18 Sept 1913 at 2:00 AM. Survived by son Francisco Basquez; Father in law Lorenzo Basquez and daughter Aurelia B. de Martinez.

402- Rosalia C. de Chavez Age 77 of Gallina, NM. Died 11 Sept 1913. Survived by 2 sons and 3 daughters.

403- Bereranda G. de Martinez Age 36 of Clevland Mora County NM. Died 6 Sept 1913 at 7:00 PM. Survived by husband Andres c, Martinez and 4 children. Parents Rafael Garcia and Regina T. de Garcia. 1 brother and 5 sisters.

404- Coronel Perfecto Armijo died in St. Joseph hospital in Albuq., NM. 23 Sept 1913.

405- Vallolita Roper of Cleveland Mora County, NM. Died 17 Sept 1913.

406- Jose Eulogio Aguilar Age 63 of El Valle, NM. Died in his residence 24 Sept 1913. He was born in Rio Arriba County, NM in 1849. He married Maria de Gracia Leyba in 1872. Survived 3 sons and 1 daughter.

407- Octaviano Manzanares Age 23 years, 3 months and 12 days of Velarde, NM. Died 26 Sept 1913 at 8:20 AM. Survived by parents Antonio Manzanares and Gloria G. Manzanares, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

408- Felipe Arguello Age 92 of Chamisal, NM. Died 4 Sept 1913. Survived by 3 sons and 2 daughters; Son-in-law Lucas Dominguez Taos County Commissioner.

409- Rosita Sandoval of El Prado, NM. Survived by children Trinidad, Damasio and Marcial Sandoval; Daughters Nieves, Apolina and name not legible.

410- Cristoval Trujillo of Ranchitos de Abajo Taos, NM. Died 20 Sept 1913 in Las Animas Colo. Survived by wife Alcaria Pacheco de Trujillo.

411- Manuel E. Martinez Age 35 of Llano Largo, NM. Died 16 Sept 1913. Survived by Wife Maria Attocha M. de Martinez. 3 sons and 3 daughters.

412- Eutilia Gomez Age 4 years and 10 days of Cerro, NM. Died 5 Oct 1913. Survived by Guillermo Gomez and Florencia S. de Gomez.

413- Jose Domingo Gallegos of Cerro, NM. Died 14 Aug 1913. Survived by son Antonio B. Gallegos who is in Avoc, Wyo. and adopted son Gil B. Gallegos.

414- Feliz Villareal of Wagon Mound, NM. Was shot and killed by Benito Sanchez who was himself wounded 11 Oct 1913. The fight started in Lee Blattman's bar. Feliz Villareal and Benito Sanchez were gambling with dice and Sanchez claimed that Villareal had defrauded him of $ 50. They both pulled out their pistols and started shooting. When the gun smoke cleared Feliz Villareal was lying on the floor dead and Benito Sanchez was wounded in the arm. Sanchez was arrested and placed under guard at the Wagon Mound, NM Hospital.

415- 1:30 PM Oct 1913 (Date of newspaper 31 Oct 1913) there was a terrible explosion in the old coal mine Stag Canon No. 2 Dawson, NM. Over 263 men were killed in the coal mine explosion. Another 23 miners were able to escape with their lifes. 201 bodies were extracted by 29 Oct 1913 some of them are in such a condition that they can not be identified. Following is a Partial list of the dead including the mine superintendent William McDermoit, who's body was sent to Trinidad, Colo for burial: Makis Anazokis, Manos Parasias, Michael Paperi, D. Zefferini, Peter Andrus, James Lurdi, William Ramono Poise, George Williams, Peter Sporer, Asart Folgia, Bella Santipitt, G. Bianchi, Michael Angelo, George Makros, Mesimer Ermote, Alexander McDonald, Jerry Berger, Pietro Boggio, Charles Evens, Gulasepi Cerafino, V. O. Calentine, Felix Garcia, Ernesto Montoya, Thomas McLemon, Frank Redick, Frank Mati, Dellaco Giacomo, Dan Romero, E. Simonsi, William Morgan, Higini Saoldo, Marcelino Romero, Baldo Marcheto, Fritz Silko, B. Ulibarri, James Lindsay, Arthur English, Walter Johnson and Juan Trujillo. Over a hundred bodies have been identified.

416- Sinecio Sisneros Taos County Sheriff died Thursday 23 Oct 1913. He died of Tifo (Typhoid) and other Complications. Survived by wife and 2 daughter. Son-In-Law Nicolas Anaya.

417- Juanita Garcia Age 86 of Ranchitos, NM. Died 1 Nov 1913. She was the widow of Andres Trujillo who died in the civil war battle of Valverde in the 1860's. Juanita Garcia was born in Abiquiu Rio Arriba County, NM. Survived by daughters Sesilia Trujillo, Tonita Trujillo wife of Juan B. Vigil of Talpa, NM, Viviana Trujillo wife of Donaciano Graham; Son Vicente Trujillo of Llano Quemado, NM; Brother Manuel Garcia of Wagon Mound, NM.

418- Cenaidita Marquez Age 1 years and 4 months of Arroyo Hondo, NM. Died 13 Oct 1913, Daughter of Luis G. Marquez and Selina S. Marquez.

419- Felix Serafin Torres Age 24 of La Garita, Colo. Died at his brother Santiago Medina's residence where he stayed trying to regain his health for over 10 months. He suffered from a heart condition. He was born in Mogote, Colo 2 Nov 1889. Son of Jose Epifanio Torres and Piedad Lovato. Grandfather Julio Lovato, 6 sisters and 3 brothers. Buried in Carnero, Colo Cemetery.

420- Maria Predes M. Lopez of Chamisal, NM. Died 28 Oct 1913. Survived by Parents Navor Martinez and wife, 2 children. Names not listed. Death notice subitted by Celso Martinez and Jose S. Lopez.

421- Gilfredo LaBlanch Age 24 died 23 Aug 1913. In the Rio de Las Nutrias near South Fork, Colo. He was removing some rocks using metal chains. He was trying to move one when another rock fell on him killing him instantly. Survived by Wife Felicitad Dalach and 4 children; Parents Jose de La Luz LeBlanch and Petra V. de LaBlanch and 4 brothers. Buried in Del Norte, Colo.

422- Celina Gallegos Age 16 of Questa, NM. Died 20 Sept 1913. Daughter of Sabino Gallegos and F. S. Gallegos. Buried in The Questa, NM Cemetery.

423- Juanita Martinez de Maestas Age 75 of Cerritos, Colo. Died 8 Nov 1913 at 2:30 PM. Survived by 5 daughters and 5 sons.

424- Jesus Trujillo Age 75 of Llano, NM was found dead 29 Nov 1913 on the hill between Llano and Santa Barbara, NM. Coroners jury determined that he died at the hands of a yet unknown person(s). He had left his house riding his donkey and when he was found he was nearly naked. There were tracks on the snow of a shod horse over his donkeys tracks.

425- Tomasita Chacon de Salazar of Valdez, NM. Died 25 Nov 1913 at 10:00 PM. She was born in Abiquiu Rio Arriba County, NM. She and her parents came to Arroyo Seco Taos County, NM where she lived until she married Juan Antonio Salazar. Survived by children Maria, Bernardo and Jose A. Salazar.

426-Josefa R. de Mondragon Age 47 of Llano Quemado, NM. Died 26 Oct 1913 at 10:00 AM. Wife of Jose N. Mondragon; Parents Juan B. Rael and Antonia Cordova.

427- Meliton Griego Age 51 of Dixon, NM. Died 5 Dec 1913 at 7:00 PM. Survived by wife Eser Salazar de Griego and 7 children.

428- Juanita P. Cruz Age 44 years, 4 months and 11 days of Watervale, Colo. Died 27 Nov 1913. Born in Arroyo Seco, NM 15 June 1869. Daughter of Rafael Padilla and Seferina Sanchez. She married Jose Nestor Cruz 10 Jan 1981. They had 7 children. 4 surviving Anastacia C. Vialpando Wife of Patricio Vialpando, Isabelita and Delfina Cruz 3 years old and 3 brothers. Names not listed.
