I am looking for proof that the parents of Mary Ann Smith Carhart of Keyport actually lived in Monmouth county at one time. Parent's names are Stephen Smith and Phebe (TUNIS) Smith. Stephen and Phebe would have been born around 1794-1800 and Mary Anne was born in 1824. Also, Gershom was married to a Hettie Smith before he married Mary Ann. Any information on any of these people would be most appreciated.

DOES ANYONE REMEMBER LOUISE BEDWORTH IN 1978??
Recently I discovered a member of our Canadian branch of Putnams who died in Middletown, NJ, Monmouth County and her obituary appeared in the now defunct Red Bank Daily Register on 26 July 1978. At this point we know little about her adult life. She was a cousin of my grandfather's.
A condensation of the obituary particulars are as follows:-
Louise M. (Putnam) Bedworth, age 94, of 10 Village Lane** died yesterday at the Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Hazlet. She moved here last year and was the widow of the late Sidney Bedworth who died in 1960. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, New Monmouth handled arrangements. She and her husband are buried in Westfield, NJ.
**It is not clear if "Village Lane" is in Hazlet or Red Bank but The Soc. Sec. Death Index indicates her last know address was Middletown, NJ.
If there is anyone still around who remembers Louise Bedworth and if so I hope they could contact me
Robert T. Putnam, Waterloo, Ontario.

Am interested in the HENDRICKSON line of my husband. Some of them are Pierson, Uriah, Benjamin. I would like to prove, or disprove a reference of this line, Rutger Hendrickson and Gennetje Buckman having married in Germany in Cologne, 1519. The source of this reference cannot be located, possibly has deceased.
My husband's SHERMAN line is back to Benjamin, born about 1821 in NJ. Benjamin married Eliza A. Field. I would like to carry their lines back further. Their children were John H., Hannah, Jacob, Willett, Benjamin, Lydia (my hubby's link to HENDRICKSON marriage), George.

Hello Friends-We are a couple of "grayhair "youngsters" who enjoy collecting milk bottle caps. As to our age, let us mention, Herbert Hoover was President the years we were born. We seek your aid for a little info germane to a certain milk bottle cap in our collection (which currently numbers over 600 caps). We have endeavored to learn something about this cap from yust about every source we can find, but no luck thus far, so we are asking your kind assistance. The Milk Cap reads as follows: - Joceda Farms Marlboro New Jersey GRADE B Pasteurized Milk. What makes this particular cap so unusual, is the wording "GRADE B". It is the only cap in our collection with a GRADE B name. All milk caps we have ever seen are GRADE A. We have a few fellow-collectors who have caps in the thousands, yet none have ever seen a GRADE B cap, which we are told makes this Joceda Farms cap very valuable and rare, among serious milk cap collectors. I would like to exchange information with anyone researching the Lyons family of Monmouth, or James Murray, who resided there in the 1830-1850 period. Joseph James Lyons was in Dover in 1830, with his wife, Hannah White. He was b. 1795 and she was b. 1803. They married in Monmouth on 1 March, 1826. Their daughter Mary Jane Lyons, who wed the above James Murray, was b. there in 1828. There were 9 other children b. to Lyons. James Murray had his first child there, Rebecca, in 1846.

I am in an ongoing project of tracing my family history. As far as I can gather so far, the name Hartsgrove was changed from Hartshorne (a name any Mon. cty. historian should know), alegedly after one of that family married a Lenape indian girl and was dissowned. I have had some trouble finding documented proof of the name change. However, there is no record of imigration for a Hartsgrove in the U.S., and no trace of the name in England. Also, in looking at compiled geneologies of the Hartshorne clan, I've noticed that there are missing names in various records. From what i understand of the time period and the social status of the family, dissowning was a common practice. For that and many other reaosns I beleive that we are decended from the Hartshorne line. If I include that into my family tree, then we have inter-relations with nearly every major family of old monmouth. Mount, Parker, White, McCall, Black, Throckmorton, Smith, to name a few. It is my goal to compile as ac!
urate a geneology as I can, and in doing so I'll more than likely trace the inter=relation of most of Monmouth's history. Any help or infromation on this would be greatly appreciated.

I am trying to determine if death records exist for Long Branch or Ocean Twp at the local level for the period around Aug. 1, 1870. I sent an enquiry to the New Jersey State Archives & they replied that "No death records filed for Long Branch or Ocean Twp., Monmouth Co., May 1870- May 1872" I am seeking information about Charlotte Malcolm who died on that date. This date of death & location was gleaned from her tombstone in County Antrim, Ireland. After her husbands death in 1865 she came to the U.S. where she died at the age of 64. Her fathers name was Thomas Pentland. Very little is known about her & it is unknown when or why she came to the U.S. Any assistance in this genealogical request for assistance is greatly appreciated. Lawrence Adair [email protected]
