The TOMER family lived in the upper Merrit house on the creek road in Finesville, N. J., at the junction of the highway.
William Gould TOMER, teacher, musician and Christian gentleman, was born in 1832 and died in 1896.� He was the composer of many sacred songs, best known of which is our much loved hymn, "God Be With You, Till We Meet Again".� This hymn, No. 557 in the Methodist Hymnal, is sung by all denominations and organizations, and according to the Press, "in every country of the world".
William G. TOMER taught "Public School, Finesville # 1" in what is now the basement of the Finesville Methodist Church.

The Finesville Union Cemetery, south of the village, is located on the Hunt farm along the County Highway about halfway between Finesville and Riegelsville, N. J.
The earliest date of interment is 1841.� The cemetery appears on the Pictorial Township Map of 1860, and is mentioned in "Snell's History of Sussex and Warren" published in 1881 by Everts and Peck of Philadelphia.� The reference to this burial ground may be found, pp 601 under "Burial Places".� Following a list of much earlier cemeteries, quote, burial grounds, of much later date are located at Stewartsville, Hughesville and Finesville.
