Will of Ebenezer Newton

1739 May 18 Page 355   Will of Ebenezer Newton of Cape May County.

Wife: 1/3 of improvement of my plantation during life,after her decease,land shall be divided between my sons Caleb and Isaac, they to have the improvement of 2/3 at present.

Sons Ebenezer and Nathan equally the cedar swamps and rest of my lands.

Daughters Sarah and Martha to share equally with their brothers in the personal estate.

Witnesses: Peter Johnson, Joseph Johnson, Israel Johnson

"Derby, in the county of New Haven Connecticutt in New England July 9, 1739, appeared Peter Johnson, Joseph Johnson and Israel Johnson to take deposition of the last will of Ebenezer Newton, late deceased in Derby, etc." Signed John Riggs Justice of the Peace

1739 August 10 Inventory of Personal estate of Ebenezer Newton (ƒ340.5.9 includes 44 chattel and 12 calves, (ƒ94.03.0) 3 horses, 60 sheep, 12 hogs and 13 pigs, 39 geese and 2 turkeys, wheat, corn, rye, flax, barley, oats, negro woman, whale boat and craft (ƒ11.17.0) leather, yarn, books, indigoe (ƒ4.15.06)
