Edwin R. Perkins 

Edwin Perkins was the son of True and Mary (Chapman) Perkins, was born in Tamworth,  Feb. 20,  1833.  His early youth  was passed   with his parents who sought to give him as good educational advantages as a New England boy could enjoy. He was sent for a time to Parsonfield Seminary and later to Phillips Exeter Academy.  He graduated from Ohio State Law College and was called to the bar in  1863. He  never  forgot the religious  training in his   childhood. for  more than  thirty years he had been an honored member of the Second Presbyterian Church, and for many years an elder.

Mr. Perkins was  married to  Harriet  Pelton, daughter of    Asahel Pelton of La Grange , New York, and  a graduate  of   Gennesee Wesleyan  Seminary. Their children were: Mary Witt; Harriet   Pelton;  True; and Edwin  Ruthven. He was a large reader and upon several occasions had shown himself as an forcible speaker.
