Virginia Foster of Hastings, NE donated the following two books:

     DONIPHAN COUNTY KANSAS CITIZENS DIRECTORY 1868-1869, a 36 page soft cover book listing names in alphabetical order, occupation and township number.

     DONIPHAN COUNTY KANSAS SOLDIERS REGISTER 1868, a 36 page soft cover book has a short history of the county and each town followed by a list of solderis (sic) who enlisted from Doniphan County, rank, company, regiment and location of enlistment. A casualty list of soldiers with rank, date and place of death is included.

     ALMA: TOWARDS THE YEAR 2000, donated by Marily Aubert of Lincoln, sales represenative for Walsworth Publishing Company, a 231 page hard bound book has the history of the town including a listing of postmasters, high school alumni graduates and 93 pages of family histories.

Donations continued:

     A CENTURY OF MEMORIES-MAGNET NEBRASKA 1893-1993 donated by the history book committee, a 191 hard bound book has the history of the town with 135 pages of family histories. A list of teachers from 1890 to 1969, graduates from 1920 to 1956, list of service men and women with many photographs make up the book.

     BELDEN CENTENNIAL HISTORY BOOK 1890-1990 donated by the Belden Community Club, is a 338 page spiral bound book of history with 185 pages of family histories, 30 pages of photos of the past and 24 pages of veterans pictures.

     100 YEARS OF GROSS NEBRASKA 1893-1993 donated by the Gross Centennial Committee, a 210 page hard bound book of past and present history for this unincorporated village of nine residents today. There are 123 pages of family histories, listing of burials in the Gross Cemetery, veterans list, 10 pages of memories written by Senior Citizens and 18 pages of photographs.

DONATIONS RECEIVED FROM THE BOOK CONTEST

     THE MATULKA FAMILY HISTORY AND SUPPLEMENT 1877-1995 donated by the editor Charles Eldridge of Warrenburg, MO. This 208 page spiral bound book begins with Frank and Katherine Prochaska Matulka who came to the US in 1877 from Bohemia with their six children, Frank Jr, Mary, John, Rosa, June and Jacob. They lived in Saunders, Hayes and Butler Counties of Nebraska. The descendancy charts show 7 generations. Short stories of each family, photos and death certificates add to the book.

     A ALEXANDER GENEALOGY, donated by the editor, Phyllis Alexander of San Jose, CA. This 58 page spiral bound book with index shows the 7 generations of John and Elizabeth Moodie Alexander who farmed in Ireland. A son, David, married 3 times, died in Scotland. The third generation of David lived and died in Nebraska. Letters from brother in Grand Island to his brother in Scotland in 1884, diary of the brothers voyage from Scotland to the US, trip to Grand Island and maps of Ireland and Scotland make up the book.

     GENEALOGY OF NELS SWANSON FAMILY compiled and donated by Ila Christensen of York, NE, a 30 page spiral bound book describes the history of Nels, born and married in Sweden, migrated to America in 1881 to IL where his spouse died, his 2 other marriages, moved to Greeley, NE in 1896 but returned to Illinois where he died.

     COONROD FAMILY TREE donated by editor, Karen Rowe of Lincoln, NE, a 107 page spiral bound book with index is the 9 generation genealogy of Casper and Elizabeth Coonrod who migrated from Germany in 1831 to New York with a married son and family, two other sons and daughter. The families migrated to IN, IL and KS. Related families are Lowe, Short, Summers and Bishop of Mahaska, KS. Maps, ancestor charts, graphs, birthday calendar and photos make up the book.

    GOOD TIMES compiled and donated by Richard H. Good of Grand Island, NE, a 53 page spiral bound book with index, is a genealogy written in story of Salathiel and Eulila Templin Good. Salathiel, the fourth child of six children was born in TN, moving to IN with his parents and siblings where he was married in 1835 living as a farmer and school teacher. By 1854 they moved to WI. They migrated with their 9 children from WI to NE Territory in 1856 settling in Nemaha County where a school, post office, church and cemetery were established on his homestead. An interesting story and pholo is written for each of the six daughters and four sons.

Book Contest donations continued:

     HERMAN & AGTE NEEMANN FAMILY - Ancestors and Descendants 1786-1988 compiled and donated by Esther M. Peterson of Lincoln, NE, a 136 page hard bound book with index, is a 7 generation genealogy of the Neemann Family beginning with parents of Herman and Agte who all came to the US to Nebraska Territory as early as 1858. The father of Herman died in Germany before migration started. Stories of the ancestors, family charts, newspaper articles, recipes, addresses of living descendants and reminiscinse of the bygone days make up the book.

     COVENTRY AND ALLIED FAMILIES donated by editor Joan Coventry Mueller of Mesa, AZ, a 177 page soft cover book includes 8 generations of John and Jean Harrower Coventry and their 7 children of Scotland. Their son, John migrated to Nova Scotia, married and had 11 children. Their son, James migrated to MA where he married. They migrated to Colfax County, NE in 1870 and on to Holt County. They were the parents of 7 children. James married a second time dying in Nova Scotia. Stories of each generation, photos, maps, documentation with Coventry descendants chart and MURRAY/MUNRO descendants chart complete the book.

     THE LANDGREN FAMILY HISTORY donated by the editor, Patricia Martinson of Omaha, NE, a 67 page soft cover book with index includes 3 generation in Sweden. The 4th generation, George Landgren came to America with his mother, step-father, brothers and sister to Clay County, NE. Seven generations of the Landgren family are docurnented in this book with short stories, photos, maps and documentation. A short SWENSON Genealogy is included.

     THE FAMILY HISTORY OF WILLIAM AND ANNA BJORKLUND donated by the editor, Irene Bjorklund of Seattle, WA, a 208 page hard bound book of 7 generations is divided in four sections. William Bjorklund came from Sweden to Greeley, NE at age 15 in 1894; Anna Lindstrom came to the area in 1907 at age 15; They married in 1912 at the state Fair in Lincoln and had 4 children. Maps, charts, documents, letters to and from Sweden, photos and many family group records make up the book.

     JACOB HELPERS FAMILY- PAST AND PRESENT donated by Irene R. Berg of Veradale, WA, a 183 page hard bound book with index. Jacob and Katherina Bellman Helmers and their 6 children came to America in 1884 to IL where 6 more children were born. They both died in LaHarpe, IL. The book has maps, photos, documents and family addresses.

Susan married Samuel Foulder after Jacob's death and had 1 daughter. Allied names are Cover, Uglow and Hurst. This family has many Nebraska Connections. Maps, Photos, documents and newspaper articles complete the book.

Burchfield D.V.M. of Bayard, NE, a 338 page hard bound book with index, is the genealogy of John Sherer and Addah Burchfield and their 10 children; Robert Young and his 6 children; Recide Hawley and his 4 children. There are 128 pages of descendent charts.

     THE KUKLIS & OLIVA FAMILY IN BOHEMIA donated by the editor, Sandra Breitkreutz of Crete, NE, a 71 page soft cover book is not a family history but a report of information found by a Czech researcher about the family before emigration to America. Maps, photos of buildings, documents and correspondance with the researcher make up the book.

     THE DESCENDANTS OF JOSHUA WHEELER & SARAH VANBEBBER donated by the editor, Marshall Wheeler of Austin, TX, a 56 page soft cover book with index, is the story of Joshua Wheeler, born in KY, married Sarah, moved to IL, had 9 children and died in IL. The oldest son, James Wheeler lived in Gage County, NE. A short story of each of the children and their siblings is recorded along with family group sheets.

     THE TRAVELS TRIUMPHS & VICISSITUDES OF DUNBAR W SMITH MD donated by the editor Dunbar Smith of Calmesa CA a 332 page soft bound book is the autobiography of Dunbar W. Smith MD born in Dunbar, NE in 1910, spent 28 years obtaining an education, doing nearly 40 years of service to the Seventh-day Adventist Church as pastor, administrator and physician on three continents, circling the globe 4 times in his missionary work. Forty pages of photos describes Dr. Smith's life.

     DESCENDANTS OF JOHN CLARK OF NEW HAVEN CT donated by the editor, Lloyd W. Hoagland of Watsonville, CA, a 960 page hard bound book with index, contains 13 generations of John Clark who sailed in 1634 from England to America and had 4 children. Nebraska connections are the editors genealogy who was born to Wareharn & Augusta Clark in Red Willow County. The father died when Lloyd was 7 years old. He and his 2 younger brothers were adopted by the step father, Samuel "Clint" Hoagland. Lloyd was the tenth generation of John Clark.

     FRIEDRICH & SOPHIE HOPPE - GERMAN IMMIGRANTS TO JEFFERSON COUNTY NEBRASKA donated by Weldon Hoppe of Colon, NE, a 75 page spiral bound book with an address list, is the history of the Hoppe couple with their 3 children, left Germany in 1869 to come to America, joining Sophie' s brother, August Meier, who came in 1858. Their destination was Jefferson County where they filed a homestead on Cub Creek. No more children were born here. Pictures, family reunion and the geneology charts of the 3 sons of Hermann Heinrich August Hoppe who remained in Germany make up this nice book published in 1994 for the family reunion of the 125th anniversary of immigration.

     INDIANOLA AND SAINT CATHERINE CEMETERY 1873-1994 IN RED WILLOW COUNTY NE a 76 page page spiral bound book lists burials by row with an index along with an index of veterans. This is one cemetery with a road dividing the two cemeteries.

     IMAGES OF YESTURDAY ... VISIONS OF TOMORROW MADISON COUNTY - MADISON NEBRASKA 1867-1992, a 350 page hard bound book of the 125 year history of the town plus 146 pages of family histories and several pages of reminiscense.

     HIGH WATER MARK - GREAT REPUBLICAN RIVER FLOOD OF 1935, a 249 page spiral bound book has newspaper accounts of the flood from 25 towns that were flooded by the water. The articles list the names of people who perished in the flood.

     LINCOLN - LANCASTER COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY LIBRARY CATALOG 1994, a 108 page soft cover book listing the publication in their collection located at Union Collegge.
