DONATIONS TO THE LIBRARY:

LINCOLN CITY DIRECTORIES FOR 1982, 1983 and 1984 were donated by Melba Scott of Lincoln, NE. These can not be mailed because they are too big and heavy.

RAGAN UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CENTENNIAL SERVICES donated by Connie Norman Dake of Beatrice, is a 16 page booklet of church history along with list of pastors and presidents of the Ladies Aid Society.

DENTON UNITED METHODIST CHURCH CENTENNIAL HISTORY 1893-1993 donated by the church, is a 151 page soft cover book has the history of the village, church, pastors, Ladies Aid, church school with a list of members. Memorials, marriages and deaths from 1961 to the present and reminiscense (sic) of members complete the book.

FRIEDRICH AUGUST HEIDEMAN FAMILY TREE 1844-1990 donated by the Fred Heideman Family of Fairbury, a 374 page hard bound book is the history of Friedrich and Rebecca Buhmann Heideman who came from Germany to Saline County, NE. Stories and family charts of nine of the thirteen surviving children are included.

Rosalyn Chmelka of Dwight, NE donated the following 2 family histories:
JOSEF ZEMAN FAMILY HISTORY a 444 page spiral bound book, is the history of Josef Zeman who came to the U. S. in 1890 with son-in-law, Matej Moravec and 4 daughters of Josef to Saunders County. Charts, photos, newspaper articles and correspondance (sic) from the Czech Embassy make up the book.

MATEJ CHMELKA FAMILY HISTORY a 340 page spiral bound book, is the history of the Chmelka Family who came from Bohemia in 1871 to a homestead in Saunders County. Photos, charts, newspaper articles, official documents and information from Czechoslovakia is included.

FRANK J & AMELIA KENNEY FAMILY HISTORY donated by the Saline County Historical Society at Dorchester, a 119 page soft cover book with index, is an album of photographs and biographical dictionary of the Kenney Family who came from New York and settled in Saline County where 10 children were born. There is a large picture of the Kenney Brick Factory near Dorchester.

Sara Firehammer of Buchanan, Michigan donated the following 4 books in the name of Peter Firehammer.
THE NORTHERN TEACHER IN THE SOUTH 1862-1870 a 221 page hard bound book with index, is the reconstruction of Northern teachers who established schools for Negroes and whites in the South after the Civil War. Short biographies of officers, educational association. officers of the various leading educational Assns. and an alphabetical list of teacher's names, home address and place of education in the south. THEY BROKE THE PRAIRIE a 451 page hard bound book with index, is an account of the settlement of the Mississippi Valley by religious and educational pioneers told in the terms of the City of Galesburg and the College of Knox in Illinois. MICHIGAN IN FOUR CENTURIES a 498 page hard bound book with index, maps and history of prehistoric times, territory governed by France, Britain and statehood in 1796 till 1950. A list of governors with years and party are included from 1835 to 1950.

MICHIGAN WOMEN 1701-1977 a 119 soft bound book, has biographies and photos of 49 ladies who were involved in the History of Michigan from 1701 to 1977, each in their own profession. A chronological list of Michigan's First Women is included with location and profession

Sara Firehammer of Buchanan, Michigan donated the following 2 books in the name of Andx T. Leney:
WHO'S WHO IN AMERICAN WOMEN 1972-1973 of 1017 pages and 1974-1975 of 1072 pages. These hard bound books have short biographical listings arranged in alphabetical order with vital statistics, professional, political, military, religous (sic) etc. information along with home address and office address.

Georgene Sones of Omaha donated the following five books
A History of the Indiana Historical Society 1830-1980 a 383 page hard bound book with index, describes its growth along with a listing of officers, library commities (sic), staff, honorary members and publications through the years.
HISTORY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN NORTHEAST NEBRASKA 1891-1969 a 663 page hard bound book with index and many photos, has biographies of diocese Bishops, archbishops, seminaries, newspapers, Boys Town, colleges, lay organizations, schools and women religious with motherhouses in Omaha
HISTORY OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH IN NEBRASKA in three volumes.
VOLUME I The Church on the Northern Plains, a 344 page hard bound book with index, is the history of pioneering priests who served as missionaries in the Nebraska Territory with Indians, explorers, Germans north of the Platte, and building the Cathedral in Omaha, etc.
VOLUME II The Church on the Fading Frontier, 1864-1910, a 388 page hard bound book with index, describes the establishment of schools, acadamies (sic) and hospitals with stories and struggles of the Sisters of Mercy, Franciscans, Poor Claras, Jesuits, Religious of the Sacred Heart and others.
VOLUME III Catholic Chapters in Nebraska Immigration 1870-1900, a 201 page hard bound book with index, describes bringing Catholicism to the Irish, Bohemian and Polish Colonies in Nebraska

THE GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY OF MORONGO BASIN YUCCA VALLEY CA SURNAME/CODE NUMBER INDEX, DONATED BY Faith McCannon Sones of Yucca Valley, CA, a 22 page soft cover book lists surname being searched, locality, time period along with code number of researcher, name of researcher, telephone number and names of societies to which members belong.

Ray and Ellen DeVries of Lincoln donated the following four books.
1970 SALINE COUNTY AUTO LICENSE DIRECTORY, 136 pages listing name, license number and town with many advertisers.
UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST FIRST CONGREGATIONAL, CRETE NE a 24 page soft cover book with history, list of pastors, photos, names and addresses of members.
WHERE SUNFLOWERS GREWTHE STORY OF NEBRASKA WESLEYAN THROUGH ITS EARLY YEARS an 88 page hard bound book with index, describes the founding of this Methodist University in Lincoln in 1886 till 1908 when the First Methodist Church was dedicated.
DOANE MAGAZINE Fall 1969, a 20 page publication from Doane College, has an honor roll of donors by class, Parents Fund list, churches, friends and business donors, vaculty (sic) and staff donors, engagements, weddings, births and deaths of alumni with address and dates.

OHIO VALLEY GERMAN BIOGRAPHICAL INDEX A SUPPLEMENT donated by Heritage Books, is a 93 page book of German-American names with symbol showing from which of 11 publications the name was abstracted.

ST MARY'S CATHOLIC CHURCH CENTENNIAL HISTORY-ORLEANS NE donated by the parish, a 54 page soft cover book, has a short history of the church, school, Altar Society, and cemetery, biographies of pioneer members, parish priests, 1895 census and photos of members in 1978.

SLOTE MEMORIAL, donated by the author, Lois Slote Lehl of Portland, OR, a 77 page soft cover book with index, is a coninuation (sic) of her first book "Eagles & Wrens", a genealogy of the Slote Families. This book has chapters on the allied families of DeVries, Latour, Oldemeyer, Tanis and Vader.

WILCOX / WILCOXSON FAMILIES OF NEW ENGLAND AND THEIR DESCENDANTS donated by the author, Martha Scott Osborne of Seattle, WA in three volumes.
VOLUME I of 376 pages lists Wilcox names A-G in alphabetical order with vital information and references.
VOLUME II of 376 pages lists Wilcox names H-O, same as above.
VOLUME III of 398 pages lists Wilcox names P-Z, same as above, including bibliography and index of Wilcox and other surnames from all three volumes.

THE HARSH FAMILY 1740-1987 donated by the author, Robert C. Harsh of Beauford, SC, a 575 page hard bound book with index, is the genealogy of Hans Heinrich and Juliana Veronica Hirsch/Harsh and their four children who left Rotterdam in 1740 for America and on to Ohio. Descendants of many generations of the children is included along with maps, documentation and burials in the Harsh Cemetery in Ohio.

FAMILY GENEALOGIES OF JOHN MANNING STEWART donated by the author, John M. Stewart of Port Republic, MI, is a 128 page soft cover book of ancestor charts; 9 generations of the Ephriam & Joseph Manning Families with index; 6 generations of Thomas & Eliza Stewart Family with index and 11 generations of Richard and Ann Sanborn with index. All families were in Nebraska.

HOW T0 TRACE YOUR MINNESOTA ANCESTORS a 44 page soft cover book, explaining many addresses, list of counties along with year they were created, list of territorial, state and federal census, location of military forts, wagon trains in 1860, addresses of religious or nationality organization archives in each county of the state, etc.

SEARCHING YOUR ANCESTORS IN CANADA an 80 page soft cover book explains Heraldry in Canada, researching in Archives, LDS Society, United Empire Loyalist Assn. , order of Canada Awards, Indian and Eskimo research. Names and addresses are included of all historical and genealogical societies in all provinces of Canada; sources in U. S. and 34 other countries.

CZECH IMMIGRATION NEW YORK PASSENGER LISTS 1870-1880 is a 190 page soft covered bound book listing immigrants in alphabetical order from Bohemia or Austria to New York with name, age, name of ship and date of arrival. Spouse and children listed also.

ILLIANA ANCESTORS Vol I, an 86 page soft cover book with index is the compilation of a genealogical column appearing weekly in the Danville, Ill, Commercial News for the years 1981 through 1983.
ILLIANA ANCESTORS Vol. II, a 98 page soft cover book with index is the same as above but for the years 1984 through 1986.

1850 LOGAN COUNTY ILL UNITED STATES CENSUS a 97 page soft cover bound book with index includes names, age, sex, place of birth, occupation and value of real estate owned.

LOGAN COUNY (sic) ILLINOIS CEMETERY INSCRIPTIONS Vol IV a 139 page soft cover book with index includes the information of tombstone inscriptions from 19 cemeteries.

RECORDS OF THE LINCOLN CIRCUIT LOGAN COUNTY ILLINOIS METHODIST CHURCHES 1866-1920 a 118 page soft cover book with index includes a list of members in full connections of the Lincoln Circuit along with a list of Harmony Church marriages, baptisms, probationers and burials in the Harmony Cemetery.

NOTES FROM THE CENTENNIAL EDITION OF THE LINCOLN EVENING COURIER Logan County, ILL a 21 page soft cover book with index lists all names from articles in the edition. Many were biographies.

DIRECTORY OF ILLINOIS ORAL HISTORY RESOURCES a 54 page soft cover book with subject and repository indexes has a map of Illinois showing locations of collections with a brief review of each collection along with address and hours open to public.

HISTORY OF PIKE COUNTY ILLINOIS 1880, a 1009 page hard bound book with index, has stories of its cities, villages and townships along with biographies and portraits of citizens.

CLOUD COUNTY KANSAS MARRIAGE RECORDS Dec. 1867-June 1871, a 27 page soft cover book recorded from the very fragile earliest book of marriage data exactly as it appears on the original pages.

WISCONSIN 1889 BADGER-UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN ANNUAL at Madison, WI, a 254 hard bound book with index to advertisors (sic), has many names but no photos of students.


MINNESOTA
HISTORY OF LYON COUNTY 1912, a 616 page hard bound book with an index to the 365 pages of biographies, along with a short history of each town.


MISSISSIPPI
RESIDENTS OF THE NATCHEZ DISTRICT 1787, a 27 page booklet with index, lists the heads of household or bachelors name, number of males and females by age, slaves by number of males and females by age, number of livestock, crops, number of births and deaths.

NAME INDEX TO THE SESSION ACTS OF THE MISSISSIPPI TERRITORY a 38 page booklet lists names in alphabetical order, page number & session for the acts of divorce, name changes, authorize the sale of property of an estate and emancipate certain persons of color.

VIRGINIA MARRIAGE LICENSE BONDS OF WESTMORELAND COUNTY 1786-1850 a 97 page hard bound book with bride index lists marriages in alphabetical order by grooms name, brides name, date of marriage and b[r]ides parent on occasion.


NEW YORK
HISTORY OF SCHOHARIE COUNTY NY a very old 645 page hard bound book with index. of post offices in the county, has 21 chapters. Border Wars of New York seem to make up the book.

GENEALOGICAL RESOURCES IN THE NEW YORK METROPOLITAN AREA a 404 page hard bound book with surname index and place index has listed archives, libraries and various agencies by cities and counties.

GENEALOGICAL RESOURCES IN ENGLISH REPOSITORIES a 614 page hard bound book with index has many maps and listing repositories in Greater London, each county and London Borough. The appendix lists useful addresses.

GENEALOGICAL RESEARCH IN ENGLAND & WALES vol I a 291 page hard bound book with index, is helpful to the genealogist describing how to use vital records, burials, census, parish registers, etc.

FROM GLASGOW'S TRESURE (sic) CHEST, a 480 page hard bound book with index and many illustrations, is a historic history of buildings, streets, monuments, churches and prominent men.

COUNTY MAYO CHRONICLES Sept. 1989, a 23 page publication with index has Killaser Parish vital statistics 1847/48, catholic marriages 1834/37, surname index to Griffiths Valuation etc.

PICTORIAL TRAVEL ATLAS OF SCENIC AMERICA a 288 page hard bound book with atlas and index, has a historic and scenic guide in story and photos of our great country. There are 32 pages of maps and brief historic narratives of the American Revolution.


CANADA
THE CANADIAN GENEALOGICAL HANDBOOK a 350 page soft cover book has many addresses of archives, libraries, genealogical societies, etc. along with lists of publications available for use by the genealogist. Included is a map of each of the 12 provinces along with records and sources available in that area.

LEADING LADIES IN CANADA a 581 page hard bound book with index, has the photo and biography of women involved in 17 different professions.

ARKONA ONTARIO CANADA BAPTIST CHURCH 1840-1965 a 33 page soft cover book, has a history of the church and its organizations, biographies and photos of the ministers list of deacons along with many other photos.

SOME SKETCHES OF THE EARLY HIGHLAND PIONEERS OF THE COUNTY OF MIDDLESEX an 88 page soft cover book with index, has a history of settlement of the county with listings of early pioneers and ministers in each township. Some marriages are recorded as early as 1833.
