The following was taken from obituaries.
Mary Jane SUMNER was born in Illinois and died in 1915. She was born 27 March 1839 the daughter of J. L. SUMNER Q KY. He was born in 1913. She married Ezekial WILKINS in 1856 and had 2 children, one who died in Sioux City about 1901 and Mrs. J. S. Williams of Obert. Mary Jane married Robert T. CHAMBERLAIN in 1861. He died 6 March 1910. They had 8 children. Mrs. Jas (Lillie Belle) KEEGAN and Raymond are dead. Living children are James, Jesse, Ade & Ry of Wynot, Mrra Woodworth of Furgus Falls, Minn and Mrs. Ida Wherry of Yankton, S. D. They came to NE in 1871 settling near Ponca. Moved to Vermillion, S. D. in 1893 and to Nebraska again in 1901 at St. James. Later moved to Wynot, Nebraska.

BORN IN NEBRASKA, DIED IN ALASKA
Evelyn Marie MOBERLY, 74 died 28 November 1989 at Providence Hospital. She lived in Alaska for 45 years. She was born 28 January 1915 in Indianola, NE. Survivors include her husband, a son Bryan, daughter-in-law Lynn Mule, grandsons Shane MOBERLY and Doug WILLIAMS of Anchorage, four sisters Bernatine MUSGPAGE and Charlotte DANIELS of Indianola, Lucille McCLUNG of Wilsonville, Ne. Ethel SMITH of Livermore, CA and a brother Jim MALLECK of Indianola, NE
John Charles MASON died 16 Feb. 1989 at our Lady of Compassion Care Center, he lived in Alaska for 32 years. He was born 28 Dec. 1908 in Hershey, NE. Survivors include his wife Florence, five sons, Ronald, Darris and Stanley of Anchorage, Arnold of Fairbanks and Ernest of Cheyenne, WY; a daughter Elsa AKERS of Palmer, Alaska and a sister Anna Belle BURKE of Sonora, CA.
Ronald J. MILLS died 25 Feb. 1989 at Providence Hospital, he lived in Alaska 19 years. He was •born 4 March 1901 at Port Orchard, NE. Survivors include a daughter Madeline PEARCE of Lakewood, CO; three sisters Kathryn MYERS and Louise KINSEY of Pamona, CA and Bernice RUPE of Cottonwood, Arizona; a daughter-in-law Tina MILES and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Grace and a son Normand

| 1872 | 1st school held south of Alda on the Wood River, only 3 months. |
| 1873 | 1st school house in Alda, building used for church, Sunday School, dances, A O U W Lodge Hall, general store by C. A. ELLIS. |
| 1875 | Alda School designated as District 12. First Board of Education: J.H. ANDREWS, J. V. BALMAT, O. P. MULLEN. |
| 1880 | 9 month term was voted in. |
| 1890 | Alda School District purchased block where present school building stands today for $240.00 |
| 1899 | Fire from lightning burned building. |
| 1909 | 9th grade was added. School board: H.F. McINTOSH, John McLELLAN and Dr. P. C. KELLEY. |
| 1912 | Added 10th grade. T.A. McCULLOUGH and John THOMSSEN added to school board. |
