Gates College. Neligh, Nebraska, closed it 5th year on 16 June. The college
has brilliant prospects for the future. The girl's hall with 30 furnished
rooms and its dining room will be ready at the opening of the fall term.
Boys will use the dining hall. The usual course of studies, privileges of
the library and instruction in music & drawing and popular lectures on
topics connected with the studies will be offered to students. Fall term
begins September 6. 1887. Rev. H. A. SHORLEY, Pres.
The people in the western portion of the county in ranges 39 & 40 are
desirous of cutting loose from Cherry and attaching themselves to Sheridan
county. This should be granted as it is a hardship to have them come the
great distance to the county seat to transact any necessary business, and
we believe the majority of voters here will favor this.
