The first burials were members of the Wilson family who were buried on the west boundary of their farm located in the Southeast Quarter of Sec 35, Twp 13, Range 11. Subsequent members of the Armstrong and other related families were buried on the east boundary of the Southwest Quarter of Sec 35, Twp 13, Range 11; this land adjoined the Wilson burial ground.
Two deeds were filed. One, dated 18 Feb 1875 and recorded 4 Sep 1895 in Book "K", Page 794, conveyed land (73'x173') from F.W. Briscoe and wife Eva to Emmauel G. Schaal, trustee of Wilson Grave Yard. This land was the part of the Southeast Quarter described above. The two parcels of land totaled a little over 1/2 acre.
According to the first deed, Emmanuel Schaal and his successor trustees were "to be elected the First Monday of March every second year from March 1874 by the Stockholders of the Wilson Grave Yard, whose duty it shall be to give certificates of Lot or Lots upon such times as may be agreed upon by the said Stockholders."
This original cemetery association has long been defunct.
