MR. AND MRS. JAMES M. SUTHERLAND

A very enjoyable time was spent at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Sutherland, southeast of town, on March 5, the occasion being their Golden Wedding anniversary.

Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland were married at Schuyler, Nebr., on March 5, 1892 and moved to Newport in 1903; later to a ranch east of Newport where they resided for several years. Later they again made their home in Newport where Mr. Sutherland purchased property and erected the Newport Opera House. A few years ago he purchased a ranch one mile southeast of town where they now reside.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland, all of whom are living except Ethel, wo died about three years ago. With the exception of their son, John of Kansas City, all of their children were present for the occasion.

Several useful gifts were presented the couple and Mr. and Mrs. Sutherland wish to thank everyone and especially the Rebekah lodge for the beautiful flowers.
