Ashland Gazette Nov 2011 Shirley A. HILL (1931-2011) COLON – Shirley A. Hill, 80, of Colon, died Oct. 23 in Colon. She was born Aug. 9, 1931 in Colon. Funeral services were held Oct. 28 at West Center Chapel in Omaha. Burial was at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. Heafy-Hoffman- Dworak-Cutler West Side Chapel was in charge of the arrangements. Cyril M. KUNCL (1921-2011) PRAGUE – Cyril M. Kuncl, 90, of Lincoln, formerly of Prague, died Nov. 8. He was born on July 28, 1921 to Anton and Rose (Vavak) Kuncl in Prague. He served from 1942 to 1946 in the U. S. Navy Seabees during WWII. On Nov. 23, 1948, he married Wilma Novotny at St. Mary Catholic Church in Valparaiso. He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Ernest, Charles, Joe, Victor, Tony and Henry Kuncl; sisters, Cecilia Edins, Betty Kremla and Rose Cink. Mass of Christian Burial held Nov. 12 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Prague. Interment held at St. John Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 308. Kucera Funeral Home in Prague is in charge of the arrangements. Fredrick L. LAVICKY (1942-2011) STROMSBURG – Fredrick "Fred" Louis Lavicky, 68, of Stromsburg, died Nov. 14 at his home in Stromsburg. He was born Dec. 9, 1942 to Frank and Martha (Brabec) Lavicky in David City. He joined the National Guard in May of 1960. On April 12, 1969 he married Helen Sue Mickey in Dwight. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Richtsmeier. Funeral services held Nov. 17 at St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Osceola. Interment in the Osceola Cemetery. Dubas Funeral Home of Stromsburg and Osceola is in charge of the arrangements. Robert D. LISKA (1923-2011) VERDIGRE – Robert D. "Bob" Liska, 88, of Verdigre, died Oct. 31. He was born on Aug. 30, 1923 to Adolph and Johanna (Tikalsky) Liska on the family farm four miles south of Niobrara. On Oct. 28, 1947, he married Ida Wilma King at St. Ludger's Catholic Church in Creighton. The couple was blessed with five children, Roger, Marcia, Phyllis, Patricia and Duane. Bob farmed for over 50 years, semi-retiring at age 70, and completely retiring from active farming in 1996. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and brothers, Lawrence Liska, Danny Liska, and Adolph "Junior" Liska. Funeral services were held Nov. 5 at the Z.C.B.J. Hall in Verdigre. Burial was in the Hillcrest Cemetery, north of Verdigre. Lowell E "Luke" McMULLEN PLEASANT DALE – Lowell E. "Luke" McMullen, 58, of Pleasant Dale, died Nov. 4 in Lincoln. He was born Sept. 29, 1953 to Grover Leon "Toby" and Ruth Lorraine (Shepek) McMullen at Fairbury. He was married to Margaret "Margie" Susan Kellner on Nov. 26, 1977 in Touhy. He was preceded in death by his father. Celebration of Life held Nov. 9 at Zabka Funeral Home Chapel in Seward. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Pleasant Dale Cemetery. Zabka Funeral Home in Seward is in charge of the arrangements. Stephen D. STOAKES (1947-2011) LINCOLN – Stephen D. Stoakes, 64, of Lincoln, died Nov. 11. He was born April 29, 1947 to Gordon and Elda (Anderson) Stoakes in Omaha. He married Linda Pruess in 1966. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Deanna Schultz. Funeral services held Nov. 15 at Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo. Interment at Morningside Cemetery at Mead. Henry F. TRUTNA (1917-2011) WAHOO – Henry F. "Hank" Trutna, 93, of Wahoo, died Oct. 27, 2011. Henry was born Nov. 8, 1917 in Silver Lake, Minn. to Joseph Henry and Sophia Ann (Shereda) Trutna. He enlisted in the U. S. Army on Dec. 23, 1940 and served during WWII. He married Hazel Jean Rueter on Dec. 4, 1946 in Murdock. He was preceded in death by brothers, Walt and Richard Trutna; sisters, Ruth Barnard, Ludmilla Svoboda and Mildred Ablott; and granddaughter, Leah Trutna. Memorial services were held Oct. 29 at First United Methodist Church. Interment was at Sunrise Cemetery with Military Funeral Honors conducted by Wahoo V.F.W. She was born on Aug. 4, 1955 to Allen and Lois (Hanson) Rengo in Amarillo, Texas. She married Curt Webber on Oct. 16, 1998 in Plattsmouth. She was preceded in death by her grandparents and little donkey "Bingo." Funeral services held, Nov. 14 at the Swedeburg Covenant Church in Swedeburg. Interment at Fridhem Cemetery. Svoboda Funeral Home in Wahoo is in charge of the arrangements. Rev. Herbert YOUNG (1925-2011) LINCOLN – Rev. Herbert Young, 86, of Lincoln, died Oct. 30. He was born on Mar 12, 1925 to Herbert C. Young and Margaret (Sutherland) Young in Hayward, Calif. He was raised on a bay area farm. He served in the U. S. Marines. He was ordained by the United Presbyterian Church. On June 24, 1954 he married Laura Lucille Johnson. Memorial service held Nov. 4 at Eastridge Presbyterian Church, in Lincoln. Burial held in the Marietta Cemetery at Colon. Hultgren, 76, of Fremont, passed away Nov. 19 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She was born Oct. 19, 1935 to Gustof and Henrietta Louise (Emshoff) Hapke at Mead. She married Wallace J. Hultgren on Nov. 16, 1957 at Cedar Bluffs. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Kenneth, Warren and Cloyd Hapke; and two sisters, Dorothy Westphalen and Opal Grabbe. Funeral service held Nov. 23 at Sinai Lutheran Church in Fremont. Interment at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont. Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont is in charge of the arrangements. Willis A. BROWN (1924-2011) FREMONT – Willis A. Brown, 87, of Fremont, died Nov. 21 at the Saunders House in Wahoo. Willis was born Oct. 23, 1924 to Lee and Myrtle (Minter) Brown in Hamburg, Iowa. He married Norma Jean Martin on Sept. 9, 1943. He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Richard; three brothers and two sisters. The funeral service was held Nov. 26 at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery. Dorothy CARNICLE ASHLAND – Dorothy Margaret Carnicle, 94, died Nov. 25, 2011 at the Ashland Care Center. She was born Jan. 29, 1917 in Nebraska City to Silas and Veronica (Gude) Morris. She married Larry L. Carnicle in Lincoln on Mar 25, 1940. They lived in the Murdock, Ashland and South Bend area. After her husband passed away, she moved back to Ashland. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Mark Carnicle; sisters, Verona Robbins and Mary Scott and brothers, Ople Morris and Ed Morris. Funeral service Nov. 29 at Marcy Chapel in Ashland. Mae A. WICHT (1921-2011) WAHOO – Mae A. Wicht, 90, of Wahoo, died Nov. 26. She was born May 5, 1921 to William and Frieda (Siebken) Wicht on a farm east of Yutan. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Merle Wicht; brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Lavada Maassen; and nephew, Richard Maassen. Funeral services were held Nov. 30 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment was at Hollst Lawn Cemetery in Yutan. Pruss-Nabity Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Ruby AKERS ASHLAND – Ruby A. Akers, 92, of Ashland, died Nov. 28, 2011 in Papillion. She was born Jan. 5, 1919 on a farm near Leigh to Henry and Elisa (Schultt) Loseke. She was married to Robert G. Akers on Sept. 13, 1956 in Elko, Nev. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers and sisters, Hulda Kumpf, Martha Englebart, Edward Loseke, Walter Loseke, Lottie Sandar, Reinhold Loseke, Clarence Loseke and Elmer Loseke. Funeral services were held Dec. 3, at the Marcy Chapel. Interment at Greenwood Memorial Cemetery. Kenneth FOLSOM LINCOLN – Kenneth Eugene Folsom, 79, of Lincoln, died Nov. 26, 2011. He was born in Ashland on July 24, 1932 to Clarence and Myrtle (Scheel) Folsom. A memorial service was held Dec. 1, at Wadlow Rozanek Funeral Home in Lincoln. Inurnment will be at a later date at Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln. Terry HAUSCHILD ASHLAND – Terry D. Hauschild, 58, of Ashland, died Nov. 29, 2011 at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He was born in the middle of four sisters on May 27, 1953 in Lincoln to Louis and Fern (Ziegenbein) Hauschild. He was married to Delise Ell on Aug. 5, 1978 at Community Church in Bennett. He was preceded in death by his father.
