LaVerne V. TIEKEN, 81 of Seward, NE, died April 21, 2011. He was born Feb. 4,
1930 in York, NE,  to Herman and Alice (Gocke) Tieken. Cremation, no services.

Harry E. FILLINGER died April 13, 2011. He was 87. He was preceded in death by
his son Gerald, his parents, siblings
Geneva McCormick, Edward Fillinger, Margaret Carpenter, Florence Waller and
Lorene Jones, and granddaughter Amanda
Kendrick. A memorial service was held at the Santa Maria Elks Lodge on April 18th.

Eugene Ernst REETZ, age 75, of Stromsburg, NE, passed away April 25, 2011 at his
home west of Stromsburg.
Funeral services were held April 29, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Church in
Stromsburg. Interment was in the St. Paul Luthearn Cemetery. He was preceded in
death by his parents Herbert and Clara Reetz; in-laws Herman and Alice Tieken;
brothers-in-law Ted Snider, Al Havlat, Don Tieken, Randy Tieken, Forrest Smith,
Gene Tieken and Lavern Tieken; and sisters-in-law Diana Tieken and Alvera Tieken.

Charles Gordon William CARLSON age 89, of Stromsburg, NE,  passed away May 7,
2011 at York General Hospital in York, NE. Funeral services held May 11, 2011 at
Midwest Covenant Home Chapel in Stromsburg, Interment will be in Swede Plain
Cemetery, Polk, NE. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, parents Claus
and Nettie and one brother Ellsworth.

Maxine L. BUFFINGTON, age 87, of Osceola, NE, passed away May 7, 2011 at the
Osceola Good Samaritan Society in Osceola, NE. Funeral services were held May
10, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Osceola. Interment was in the Osceola
Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dean, and one
brother William Liedloff.

Duane D. MICEK, age 83, of the Osceola Good Samaritan Society, formerly of
Shelby, NE, passed away May 4, 2011 at Bryan LGH East Hospital in Lincoln, NE.
Funeral services were held May 9, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in
Shelby. Burial was at St. Mary's Pilsno Cemetery, rural Osceola with military
honors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Vera Micek, brother and
sister-in-law Norman and Elizabeth Micek and nephew Paul Micek.

Harry W. CHRISTENSEN, 81, of Le Mars, IA, formerly of Ord, NE,  and Stromsburg,
NE, passed away May 6, 2011 at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars. Funeral
services held May 11, 2011 at the Evangelical Free Church in Stromsburg. Burial
will follow at the Stromsburg Cemetery with Military Honors. Harry was preceded
in death by his parents; two step-fathers, Raymond Johnson and Ben Greenland;
and a brother-in-law, Albert Hoffer.

Chelsea Ann MALY, 23, of Omaha, NE, formerly of Columbus, NE, passed away May 6,
2011 in Omaha. Funeral service was held at Federated Church in Columbus.
Graveside services were at the Shelby Cemetery in Shelby, NE. She was preceded
in death by her grandfather Robert J. Peterson of Shelby; grandmother Darnell
Maly of Battle Creek; and uncle Randall K. Peterson of Columbus.

Carol Jean (Coates) ANDERSON, age 87, of Stromsburg, NE, passed away May 15,
2011 at the Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg. Funeral services were held May
18, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Stromsburg. Interment was in the
Stromsburg Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. Lester
Anderson who passed away October 22, 2003; her parents Rev. Charles and Mona
Coates; three sisters Elizabeth Coates, Evelyn Johnson and Eleanor Bell; twin
brother Rev. Harold Coates and brother John Coates.

Flora Pearl SHERWOOD, 95, of Greeley, CO, died May 23, 2011 at Garden Square in
Greely.  Funeral services will be May 28, 2011 at Salem Lutheran Church in
Stromsburg, NE. Burial will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery. Flora was born on
Feb. 22, 1916 in Arborville, NE to Charles and Jennie (Hurd) Bowers. She was
united in marriage to Wallace Sherwood on August 28, 1933. She was preceded in
death by her parents, and her husband Wallace Sherwood.

Marilyn FREDRICKSON, age 90, of Stromsburg, NE, passed away May 9, 2011 at the
Midwest Covenant Home in Stromsburg. Funeral services will be May 13, 2011 at
Calvary Lutheran Church in Swede Home, NE. Interment will be in the Stromsburg
Cemetery. She was preceded in death by her husband Gordon; parents William and
Nina; two sisters   Margaret Hossack and Lucille DeFrene and one brother Nean
McKeag.
