Aurora News Register Feb 2011 Neoma HELZEER Former Aurora resident Neoma Helzer, 88, of Grand Island, passed away on Feb. 3, 2011. Funeral services held Feb. 11, at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in Aurora. Burial in the Aurora Cemetery. Neoma Christine Helzer, daughter of John and Ida (Nuss) Griess was born on the family farm near Sutton on Aug. 11, 1922. Neoma was married to Paul Frederick Helzer on June 7, 1942 at her parents’ home in Clay County. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; three brothers, Oscar Griess and Robert and Ivan Griess in infancy; two sisters, Annetta Roseburg and Marie Fitzgerald; daughter-in-law, Susan Helzer and great-grandson, Hunter Henry. Roger A. GARTNER Roger A. Gartner, 73, of Hastings, died Feb. 3, 2011 at his home. Private family services and burial will be held at a later date in Parkview Cemetery in Hastings. Roger was born Nov. 3, 1937 in Roseland to Charles and Sylvia (Wehnes) Gartner. On Sept. 13, 1955 he entered the U.S. Army and was with the 101st Airborne Division. On April 14, 1963 he married Donna K. Fox. Diana BROWN Diana Lynn Brown, 57, of Central City, formerly of Marquette, died in Lincoln on Fe 18, 2011. Memorial services Feb. 26 at the chapel of Solt Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will be at a later date in Russell, Kan. Diana was born Aug. 5, 1953, in Russell, Kan., to Calvin and Alvina (Karst) Templeton. On Sept. 29, 1973 Diana Templeton was united in marriage to Jerry Brown in Salina. She was preceded in death by her parents. Edie LASH Edie Lash, 89, of Aurora, died Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011. Funeral services held Feb. 21 at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Burial in the Aurora Cemetery. Edith Arlene Lash, daughter of George and Amanda (Christiansen) Olson, was born north of Hampton on Oct. 11, 1923. Edie and Clarence Lash were married on Mar 25, 1950 in Lincoln. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Chet Olson and Earl Olson; and a sister, Doris Petersen. Carl PROCTER Carl Procter, 75, of Aurora, died Feb. 17, 2011. Memorial service held Feb. 22 at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date. Carl Dean Procter, son of L. E. and Ophelia (Raborn) Procter, was born at Milano on Aug. 23, 1935. Carl served in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years during the Korean War. Carl was united in marriage to Alice Hill on Aug. 17, 1956 at Clay Center. He was preceded in death by his father; son, Michael Procter; step-father, Charles Neal; Grandmother Raborn; father–in-law and mother-in-law, Loren and Pauline Hill and several uncles and aunts. Dorothy GLASER Dorothy June (Bisch) Glaser, 83, of Lincoln, died Feb. 18, 2011 following a fall and subsequent hospice care. Funeral services were Feb. 22 at First Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Dorothy was born June 22, 1927 in Brewster, Minn., to Joseph and Lena (Schmidgall) Bisch.
