She married Anton Novak on Dec. 2, 1939 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Brainard. They lived on a farm near Brainard and raised five children. In 1976, she moved to Omaha and married Marvin Wilson on June 23, 1979. She was preceded in death by her husbands; a son, Dennis Novak; granddaughters, Kayla Jo Novak, Susan Cropp and Samantha Jo Novak; sons-in-law, Robert Bouc and Valerian Samek; and two sisters and two brothers. He then moved to Lincoln where he started a 50-year home building career and a lifelong passion for construction. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and brother, Everett Edstrom. "Moose" Essay, Sr., 53, of Wahoo, died Feb. 17 at St. Joseph Villa Nursing Center in Omaha. He was born May 8, 1957, to George and Doris (Cerny) Essay in Edmonton, Alberta Canada. He grew up in Denver, Colo. and then moved to Lincoln, where he attended Irving Junior High School and Lincoln High School. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps. He was born Dec. 14, 1921 in Omaha to John William Henry and Frieda Anna Johanna Hopps Maack. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in June 1942 and served until June 1943. After the service, he helped his father farm their 160 acres and had six or seven cattle and four houses to farm with. Funeral services held Feb. 26, at the Ashland United Methodist Church. Interment in Ashland Cemetery. Arrangements by Marcy Mortuary, Ashland. Samuel NIETFELD ASHLAND – Samuel D. Nietfeld, 76, of rural Ashland, died Feb. 24, 2011 at his home. He was born Dec. 24, 1934 in Fremont to Louis and Margaret (Wymore) Nietfeld. He served in the Nebraska National Guard for eight years. He was married to Rosalyn Hummel on July 7, 1956 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Daykin. A farmer his entire life, he served on the Memphis School Board. He was also an honorary member of the Navy of the Great State of Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert and Louis; sisters, Marge Nordstrom and Sally Chilen. GEREN (1937 - 2011) CENTRAL CITY – Pat Michael Geren, 73, of Central City, died Feb. 24, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. He was born June 3, 1937 to Michael Reuben 'Rube' and Della Elizabeth (McGowan) Geren in Hastings. He moved with his family to Central City in 1944. In June 2010, the Nebraska Pharmaceutical Association (NPA) recognized him for practicing Pharmacy for 50 years. He married Jerel Ann Breunig in Wahoo on June 20, 1963. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janice Gray; a brother, Joseph Geren; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jerome 'Rome' and Weta (Nonnamaker) Breunig. HOHL (1931 - 2011) WAHOO – Robert J. Hohl, 79, of Wahoo, passed away on Feb. 26, 2011. He was born on Nov. 4, 1931 to Clarence G. and Emma (Novak) Hohl in Omaha. He married Ethel Schroeder of Platte Center on Aug. 29, 1953 in Columbus. Upon graduation he served as a First Lieutenant and pilot in the U. S. Air Force for three years. After completing his service duty, he returned to Wahoo and joined his father, Clarence G. Hohl and grandfather, John G. Hohl at the Wahoo State Bank. In 1972, he became President of the bank and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1993. Mass of Christian Burial held Mar 2, 2011 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. Snyder on Feb. 24, 1956 in Yankton, S.D. They moved to the Wahoo area with their five children in 1963. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers-in-law, a niece, and a grand nephew.
