SCHNEIDER (1943 - 2010 ) WAHOO – Dr. Norman R. Schneider, 67, of rural Ceresco, died on July 5 after a three-year battle with Myeloid Leukemia. He was born Mar 28, 1943 in Ellsworth, Kan. to Henry C. and Irene C. Schneider of rural Dorrance, Kan. Dr. Schneider served the U S Air Force, (USAF) as a Base Veterinarian. He met his wife, Karen Marjorie (Nelson) Schneider during the summer of 1967, between his junior and senior year in veterinary school. SWEET (1924 - 2010 ) FREMONT – Thomas M. "Kelly" Sweet, 86, of Fremont, died July 8. He was born April 7, 1924 to Chester Joseph "Joe" and Margaret (Farris) Sweet in rural Cedar Bluffs. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maxine Erlenbusch, Georgiann Petersen and an infant sister, Mable; and a brother, Lawrence Sweet. He is survived by a sister, Berneice Mahrt of Fremont; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral service held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Bauer, 84, of North Bend, formerly of Morse Bluff, died July 15 at the Fremont Area Medical Center in Fremont. Lillian was born on Sept. 27, 1925 to John and Marie (Vavak) Hines at Morse Bluff. She taught in rural schools for two years. She married Joseph D. Bauer on Feb. 7, 1945 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Cedar Hill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her stepfather, Jim Hines; a son, Timothy Bauer; a grandson, Nick Bauer; two great-grandchildren, Molly Stutzman and Connor Limbach; a brother, Ervin Hines; and an infant sister. Mass of Christian Burial was held July 20 at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. Burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery near Morse Bluff. Cheryl A. CASS (1945 - 2010) LINCOLN – Cheryl A. Cass, 65, died July 17. Cass was born on May 14, 1945 to Lester and Bernice (Anderson) Davison in Nebraska City. She was preceded in death by her father; brothers, Mike and Dave Davison; and two infant brothers. No public visitation. Memorial service held July 22 at Wyuka Funeral Home. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Fairview Cemetery. Sharon JOHNSON GRAVOIS MILLS, Mo. – Sharon Kay (Moser) Johnson, 72, of Gravois Mills, Mo., formerly of Mead, died July 11 at her home. She was born May 5 to William (Mart) and Verna Moser at Fremont. She was married to Daniel L. Johnson on May 31, 1958. They made their home at Long Beach, Calif. during her husband's two years in the Navy. They later returned to Mead, and lived on a farm until 1984. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services July 17 at the Sunrise Beach Bible Church and on July 18 in the Mead High School commons area. Christine A. JONAS WAHOO – Christine A. Jonas, 91, of Wahoo, died July 10. She was born Oct. 13 to Rudolph and Rose (Wotipka) Machovec on her family's farm southwest of Wahoo. She married Vincent Jonas on Nov. 26, 1940 at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her brother, Louis; and a nephew. Mass of Christian Burial was held July 12 at Saint Wenceslaus Church in Wahoo. Interment was at Saint Francis Cemetery. Ruth E. KALKWARF (1920 - 2010) CRETE – Ruth Emily (Novak) Kalkwarf, 90, of Crete, died July 19. Ruth was born Mar 16, 1920, to Swan L. and Jennie M. (Ecklund) Larson in Malmo. On Oct. 14, 1941 she married Charles J. Novak in Omaha just before his five years in the Army in WWII. Charles died on Jan. 2, 1974. On May 25, 1985 she married Loren (Jack) Kalkwarf. She was preceded in death by her husbands, daughter, Caren (Burianek) Hunt; her parents; sister, Lucille; brother, Merlin (Smokey); and an infant brother and sister. ROBERTS (1988 - 2010 ) WAHOO – Christopher Lynn Roberts, 21, of Wahoo, died July 18 near Axtell. He was born Dec. 28, 1988 to Kenneth and Pamela (Brunkow) Roberts in Omaha. He was attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and had just completed his junior year studying Civil Engineering. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Roberts, Erwin Brunkow and Ray Gnuse; uncles, Larry Worrall, Tom Gehringer and Con Brunkow; and cousin, Leah Trutna. THEGE (1930 - 2010 ) NORTH BEND – Clarence L. Thege, 80, of North Bend, died July 14. Clarence was born Feb. 19, 1930, to George and Rose (Houfek) Thege on a farm near Linwood. He farmed with his father until he was drafted into the U S Army. He served during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953, on the front line at the 38th Parallel most of his tour duty. He married Marlene Fencl on Feb. 15, 1958 at the Prague Presbyterian Church in Prague. His parents and a granddaughter, Lisa Sliva, preceded him in death. Funeral services were held July 17 at the Prague Presbyterian Church. Burial was at the Prague Presbyterian Cemetery with Military graveside services conducted by American Legion Post 340 of Morse Bluff, VFW Post 8223 and AmVets Post 20 of North Bend. He was born July 16, 1930 to Rudolph Sr. and Lucille (Reazc) Trouba. He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn; parents; and sister-in-law, Dorothy. WIEBOLD (1989 - 2010) WAHOO – Jacob Andrew Wiebold, 21, of Wahoo, died July 18 as a result of an automobile accident. Hewas born Mar 26, 1989 to James Allen and Jane (Bang) Wiebold II in Fremont. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Gene Bang. Funeral services held July 22 at Wahoo Public High School Gymnasium. Interment at Calvary Cemetery in Fremont. Valerie was born on Dec. 14, 1941 to Herbert and Madelyn (Kimberly) Large in Lexington. She graduated from Lexington High School in 1960 and attended Kearney State University. In 1962 she married Terrence A. O'Brien of Randolph and they resided in Lincoln until they moved to Wahoo in 1971. She battled ovarian cancer for two and a half years and she was a child polio survivor. Memorial Mass held July 27 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo, interment will be private. She was born June 12, 1927, to Bert and Anna (Anderson) Berg at Craig. She married Fred Fager on Sept. 27, 1947 in Craig where they farmed for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Eleanor Price, Doris Phelps and Elaine Hall. Memorial services were held July 24 at the Evangelical Free Church, in Fremont. Kunz III, 74, of Prague, died July 21 at the Butler County Health Care Center in David City. He was born on July 3, 1936 to Ralph and Margaret Kunz Jr. in St. Louis, Mo. He married Jacqueline Groaning. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Susan Kunz. He was cremated with no further services. Burial of ashes will be by his parents in St. Louis, Mo. Keith was born May 19, 1939 to Ernest A. and Elsie (Pavel) Texel in Wahoo. On Dec. 2, 1962, he married Barbara Beers at Syracuse. He was born Nov. 10, 1953 to Robert D. and Patricia (Fahey) Couton in Yuma, Ariz. On June 26, 1976, he was united in marriage to Joann Snitily at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Plasi. Harold LANDON (1926 - 2010) WAVERLY -- Harold Wayne Landon, 83, Waverly, passed away July 29, 2010 after a long illness. He was born to Wayne and Bernice (Renwanz) Landon on Sept. 10, 1926 on a farm near Greenwood. He married Arlene McGill on Mar 29, 1947. They had four children. Arlene passed away on April 29, 1970. He married Eunice Johnson on Dec. 29, 1972. He was a farmer all of his working life. He also raised Angus cattle. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Arlene and his daughter, Kay Arlene Abbott. A memorial service will be held Aug. 2, at First Evangelical Free Church, in Lincoln. Prior private family interment. Arrangements by Roper and Sons Funeral Services. George N. MILTON (1920 - 2010 ) FREMONT – George Norman Milton, 89, of Colorado, died July 26 at a Colorado hospital. George was born Dec. 26, 1920 to George Arthur and Ruth (Larson) Milton in Wahoo. He served three years in the U S Navy during WWII as Radarman Second Class aboard the USS WASP in the Pacific Theatre, Third Fleet under Vice Admiral William F. Halsey and earned four ribbons and 10 battle stars. He was honorably discharged on Mar 3, 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lavonne Cluck; and granddaughter, Chelsea Rose Milton. Funeral services held July 31 at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont with military graveside services conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20.
