Nebraska City News Press Dec 2010 Geneseo, Ill. — Marvin "Bud" G. KROPP, 80, of Nebraska City died Dec 12, 2010 in Geneseo, Illinois. Marvin was born on July 31, 1930, in Barry, Illinois, to George A. And Doris (McMullen) Kropp. He was the 5th child of 6. Marvin was know as "Bud" by most of his family and friends. Marvin entered the U. S. Air Force. He served his country for 27 years, from 1950 - 1977. On Sept 16, 1951, Marvin and Arlene A. Ohsann were married in Clinton, Iowa. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Lawrence Kropp, Paul Kropp, Don Kropp; brother-in-law Wayne Farwell. Service held Dec 16, 2010 at the Peterson Mortuary Chapel. Burial held on Dec 18, 2010 at the Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa with full Military Rites by the Offutt U. S. Air Force Funeral Honor Guard. Syracuse, Neb — Lois FEY, 93, of Syracuse died at her son’s home in Lincoln on Dec. 8, 2010. She was born July 14, 1917 in Lincoln to James and Mary (Cremer) Turner. She married Elton Sanford Fey on April 5, 1939 at Prairie Home. She was preceded by husband Elton in 2009, son Roger, grandson Eric, and brothers Frank and Delos Turner. Memorial service was Dec. 13 at the United Methodist Church, Syracuse. McAllen, Texas — Guy Loren LONNEKE, 93, of McAllen, Texas, died on Dec. 8, 2010 after a short illness. He married Lillian Standerford on Feb. 14, 1957 and became an instant father and grandfather. Guy was born in Humboldt on Aug. 18, 1917, to Guy and Sophie (Rist) Lonneke. He enlisted in the Navy in 1938. He was assigned to the U.S.S. Argonne stationed in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and was there when Pearl Harbor was attacked. He was preceded by his wife, Lillian, and grandson Larry Killebrew. A memorial service was held Dec. 20, at Kreidler Funeral Home in McAllen, Texas. Nebraska City, Neb. — Carol Rose GRESS, 71, of Nebraska City died Dec. 7, 2010. Carol Rose Aufenkamp was born on Dec. 10, 1938, in Julian to Cecil and Evelyn A. (Adkins) Aufenkamp. On Jan. 24, 1960, Carol and Kenneth Theodore Gress married in Nebraska City. Carol was preceded by four brothers: Bob, Jack, Fred and Charles; and husband Kenneth on Mar 17, 2007. Funeral service Dec. 10, at the Peterson Mortuary Chapel in Nebraska City. Burial at the Wyuka Cemetery in Nebraska City. Phoenix, Ariz. — Richard “Jim” James EHLERS, 78, of Kearney and Chandler, Ariz., died in Phoenix Ariz., Nov. 29, 2010. He was born April 13, 1932 in Berlin (now Otoe) to Albert and Edith Ehlers. Shortly after his birth, his mother died. He was adopted by his uncle and aunt John and Rosa Ehlers of Bertrand. He was a farmer and served in the Army during the Korean War. He married Barbara Jean Suhr on Aug. 8, 1954 in Bertrand. He was preceded by grandson James Leonard Ehlers and sister Janice Ehlers McCandless and husband Stanley. Memorial services were Dec. 6 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege. Inurnment will be at a later date at Highland Cemetery in Bertrand. Lincoln, Neb. — Donna Rae MLEYNEK, 78, of Nebraska City died at Madonna Care Center - Lincoln on Dec. 3, 2010. She was born in Omaha. She married Loren Mleynek. She was preceded by her parents, Roger and Marie (Spearman) Ellis. Funeral services Dec. 7, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City. Burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery - Omaha. Marshall Funeral Chapel of Nebraska City is in charge of arrangements. Nebraska City, Neb. — Mary Louise SIGLER, 70, of Omaha, died Dec. 2, 2010. She was born on Jan. 2, 1940, in Nebraska City to Louis Henry and Ella Marie (Smith) Huss. She was preceded by her father in 1950, mother in 1960, daughter Donna in 1987, sister Dorothy Brod in 1997, son Richard in 1997 and brother Robert Louis Huss in 2003.
