Ashland Gazette August 2010 Joan K. ANDERSON (1928 - 2010) MEAD – Joan K. Anderson, 82, of Mead, died July 27 in Wahoo. She was born on April 25, 1928 to Adolph and Edel (Larsen) Pearson in Mead. She married Frank C. Hutmacher on Aug. 31, 1945 in Maryville, Mo. Frank died in 1977. On April 6, 1984 she married Kenneth W. Anderson at Alma Lutheran Church in Mead. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, J. Kilmer Pearson in WWII; and her husbands. Funeral services were held July 31 at Alma Lutheran Church in Mead. Interment was at Sunrise Cemetery in Wahoo. Patsy A. COMTE (1934 - 2010) DAVID CITY – Patsy Ann Comte, 76, of David City, died Aug. 5. Patsy was born Feb. 22, 1934, to Everett and Irma (Kirkpatrick) Davis at home in Weston. On May 5, 1954, she married Albert "Bud" Comte at the First Congregational Church in Wahoo. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Delmer and Michael Davis; and two sisters, Imogene Holliday and Betty Patzloff. "Bones" DIMMITT ASHLAND – LeRoy "Bones" Dimmitt, 81, of Ashland, died Aug. 9, 2010 in Lincoln. He was born Mar 14, 1929 in rural Greenwood to James M. and Vera (Jardine) Dimmitt. He was married to Shirley Kern on Jan. 12, 1963 in Ashland. He was preceded in death by wife, Beulah and his parents. Funeral service held Aug. 13 at First Christian Church in Ashland. Interment at Ashland Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 129. Arrangements by Marcy Mortuary, Ashland. Marshall HOWE HEMET, Calif. – Marshall Church Howe, 97, died July 28, 2010. He was born Nov. 29, 1912, in Auburn. He married Doris McPherren on June 15, 1935, in the same house in which he was born. This house was built by Barton C. Howe, his father, and was purchased by Field McPherren (Doris McPherren's father) during the Depression when the McPherren family moved to Auburn. He and his wife were married for 65 years. She preceded him in death in June 2000. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Virginia Howe Lopo, who died in 1997. He was interred at the Olinger Highland Memorial Cemetery in Thornton, Colo. on Aug. 14, at 3 p.m. Daryl D. REITMAJER WAHOO – Daryl D. Reitmajer, 71, of Wahoo, died Aug. 3 in an Omaha hospital. He was born on Feb. 5, 1939 to Joseph and Bessie (Junek) Reitmajer in Prague. He enrolled in an aeronautical school in Kansas City, Mo. and had finished when he was called to serve in the National Guard. He also served in the U. S. Army in 1961 and 1962. On Nov. 24, 1964, he married Venis Placek at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Harvey Reitmajer. Funeral service held Aug. 7 at First Presbyterian Church in Wahoo. Interment was at Sunrise North Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 82 and VFW Post 4502. She was born May 23, 1933 to Arthur and Della (Braach) Kuhr near Orum. She grew up on a farm near Orum. She married Lyle C. Rogers on Nov. 15, 1950 at Blair. Her parents preceded her in death. Delores "Dee " SWANSON (1934 - 2010) WAHOO – Delores "Dee" Swanson, 75, died Aug. 2. She was born on Aug. 4, 1934 to Omer and Esther (Bauer) Parker. She grew up in Keith County and married Dale Swanson on Jan. 11, 1953 in Brule. They moved to Malmo in 1963 where they farmed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; granddaughter, Brittani Romero; sister, Vivian Lehn; and brothers, Dale and Darrell Parker. WILLIAMS Sr. (1941 - 2010) CEDAR BLUFFS – Terry L. Williams Sr., 69, of Cedar Bluffs died July 31 at his home. He was born Jan. 16, 1941 to Charles and Bessie (Cech) Williams in Fremont. He was born on Jan. 12, 1968 to Fred and Charlyn (Frahm) Shickell in Denver, Colo. He was a graduate of East High School in Lincoln. Duey, 58, of Yorktown, Va., a native of Wahoo, died Aug. 14 after a long battle with cancer. After graduation from the Air Force Academy, he served 20 years in the Air Force. A Celebration of his life was held Aug. 20 at Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown. Burial took place at the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, Colo. on Aug. 24. "Mira" (Rasmus) Merrill, 78, formerly of Sioux Falls, S.D. and West Point, died Aug. 18 at the Saunders County Care Center in Wahoo. She was born on Feb. 24, 1932, to Harry and Gertrude (Lennemann) Hoetfelker near Snyder. She married Arnold Rasmus on June 24, 1952 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point. Arnold died in 1972. She married to Donald Merrill on Sept. 20, 1974. Donald died in 1995 and she moved to Mead to be close to her son Gary and his family. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her parents; a sister, Camella Westerman; and brother, Leigh Hoetfelker. Funeral Mass held Aug. 21 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point. Max was born Dec. 15, 1927, to Frank A. and Anna Marie (Chmelka) Jelinek in Weston. He was drafted into the U S Army in 1945. He married Jeanette Rae Plunk in 1952. They moved to Colorado Springs, Colo. His wife died in 1973. He then married Sandra Gale Whitaker in 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; sisters, Leona Parker, Sylvia Mattson and Ann Marie Jelinek. Lowther, 64, of Wahoo, died Aug. 21 at his home. He was born June 13, 1946 to Max and Cheryl (Davis) Lowther in Omaha. He was married to Peggy Cejka of Weston April 26, 1969. Peggy passed away Jan. 23, 1980. Two children, Joel Steven and Jennifer Marie, were born to this marriage. On June 11, 1982, he married Phyllis Clayton of Wahoo. He was preceded in death by his first wife; his stepfather, Max Kliment; his grandparents, aunts and uncles. Funeral services held Aug. 25 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Wahoo. SIMODYNES FORT WORTH, Texas – Ken Simodynes, 67, of Fort Worth, Texas, died on Aug. 16. His parents, Ray and Hilda Simodynes, preceded him in death. Sima, 95, formerly of Schuyler died Aug. 25. She was born Sept. 13, 1914 to Mike and Josephine (Wotipka) Bouc at Valparaiso. She married William "Bill" Sima on Sept. 26, 1932, at St. Vitus Catholic Church in Touhy. Her parents; her husband; seven brothers, three sisters; and great-grandson, Mitchell Tomek, preceded her in death. Joanne R. JACOBS (1938 - 2010) YUTAN – Joanne Ruth Jacobs, 71, of Yutan, died Aug. 27 in Omaha. Joanne was born Sept. 13, 1938, to Ruth (Windtberg) and Lewis Jensen in Omaha. She married Willard Roy Jacobs on Dec. 9, 1961 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Omaha. They moved to their farm in Yutan in 1963. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Jim. Hulda WRAY CHESAPEAKE, Va. – Hulda Louise Goodfellow Winston Wray, 86, passed away Aug. 25, 2010, in Virginia where she had resided since 2009. She was the daughter of James and Clara Goodfellow. In 1969 she moved to Anchorage, Alaska where she met and married Ken Wray. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, William Barrett Winston and her second husband, Kenneth Woodrow Wray. At her request, her ashes will be scattered over Alaska.
