Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, July 26, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Gothenburg. Burial was in the Gothenburg Cemetery. She was born on May 1, 1928, to John and Madeline (Francis) Ryan. Mary was born in Wood River on her grandparents homestead, with her grandmother Sarah Francis as midwife. She married Harold Lantz on Aug. 10, 1952. On Sept. 1, 1973, she was united in marriage to Warren E. Karges at Lexington. Preceding her in death were her parents; a son, Michael William Lantz; and a sister, Frances Knuth. Beverly J. DIEFENDERFER, 73, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Cozad, died May 28, 2005, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Memorial services will be Friday, July 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad. Inurnment will be in the Cozad Cemetery. She was born Aug. 13, 1931, at Cozad to Charlie and Dora Scrutchfield. On Sept. 16, 1956, she married Meryl Diefenderfer. The couple later divorced. Preceding her in death were her parents. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Daake in 1994; her parents; a daughter, Elaine Koratsky; a grandson, Danny Harris: three sisters, Mae Beck, Helen Cooley and Kathy Linden; a brother, Clyde Campbell and daughter-in-law, Linda Daake. Carolyn Ann FISHER, 72, of Lake Oswego, Ore., died July 2, 2005, of stroke complications, surrounded by her loving family. A private family service will be held. Interment will be in the Adullam Lutheran Cemetery. She was born on May 31, 1941 at Lexington, the eldest of four children born to Wilhelm and Betty (Lux) Kufeldt.
