WAHOO NEWS 2003 Theresa NOHA WAHOO – Theresa M. "Tess" Noha, 92, of Wahoo died Jan. 23, 2003. Born Nov. 21, 1910, to Frank and Josephine (Bartek) Bouc in rural Weston. On Aug. 30, 1938, married to Joseph C. Noha at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Lincoln. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Julius Bouc, Edward Bouc and Stanley Bouc; sister and brother-in-law, Ludmilla and Louis Chapek; brother-in-law, W. G. "Bill" Swoboda; and nephew, Duane Swoboda. Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 27 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Burial was at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo. Svoboda Funeral Home of Wahoo was in charge of the arrangements. Alice NOVAK DAVID CITY – Alice Marie Novak, 81, of David City died Jan. 23, 2003 at her home. Born July 28, 1921, to James and Mary (Koderle) Forman in Omaha. On May 23, 1942, she married Rudy Novak. Preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Jimmy Forman; an infant son; and a daughter-in-law, Kathy Novak. Services were held Jan. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in David City. Burial was at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Roberts Funeral Home of David City was in charge of the arrangements. Raymond WAGNER PHOENIX, Ariz. – Raymond J. Wagner, 82, of Phoenix, Ariz., formerly of Omaha, died Jan. 22, 2003 at his home. Born Dec. 11, 1920, to Henry and Mary (Musil) Wagner in Brooten, Minn. Served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. Preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gerald Wagner. Services were held Jan. 27, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cedar Bluffs. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Cedar Bluffs with military graveside services conducted by the members of the Cedar Bluffs American Legion Post 158. Moser Memorial Chapel of Cedar Bluffs was in charge of the arrangements. John BOOTH MALMO – John B. "Jack" Booth, 91, of Wahoo, formerly of Malmo, died Jan. 31, 2003 in Wahoo. Born July 12, 1911, to Fred and Eva (VanDriel) Booth on the family farm near Malmo. On April 14, 1937, married Theresa M. Riepl in Colon. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister, Betty Anderson; a brother, Francis "Shorty" Booth, and two granddaughters. Mass of Christian Burial was held Feb. 4, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Colon. Burial was at Holy Rosary Cemetery in rural Colon with the final call by the Malmo Volunteer Fire Department. Svoboda Funeral Home of Wahoo was in charge of the arrangements. Clifford HAYFORD MEAD – Clifford K. Hayford, 72, of Mead died Feb. 2, 2003 in Omaha. Born March 26, 1930, to Harold and Ella Hayford in Norden. On Mar 25, 1951 married Lila Jones in Ainsworth. Preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Nathan, Howard, Melvin and Ernest Hayford; and two sisters, Grace Davis and Louise Taylor. Services Feb. 6, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont. Burial will be at Morningside Cemetery near Mead with military graveside services conducted by the Fremont Honor Guard of the VFW Post 854 and American Legion Post 20. Moser Memorial Chapel of Fremont is in charge of the arrangements. Lila ROHWER BLAIR – Lila Rohwer, 56, of Blair, died Jan. 30, 2003. Born Oct. 30, 1946, to William and Edna (Nicholson) Gutschow in Blair. On July 31, 1976, married Kenneth Rohwer at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Preceded in death by her father, her husband and a niece, Jacqueline Bolton. Services were held Feb. 1, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Burial was at Union Cemetery at Cedar Bluffs. Campbell-Aman Funeral Home of Blair was in charge of the arrangements. Dorothy SNELLING FLORISSANT, Mo. – Dorothy N. Snelling, 95, of Florissant, Mo., died Jan. 27 in Florissant, Mo. Snelling was born June 20, 1907, to Ira and Pearl Miller in Ashland. She taught for several years in a one-room rural school near Wahoo. Married George Thomas Snelling of Wahoo. Preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald, John, George and Stanley Miller; her husband; a son, George Snelling Jr.; and a grandson, Steven Ray Howell.
