Nellie Mae Clayton ,85, a resident of Burwell, Nebraska died Saturday, February 24,1996 at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell after a lengthy illness. Nellie Clayton was born April 19,1910 in Bertrand, Nebraska to Otto A and Nellie Mabel (Donner) Schrader. Her early years were spent in Bertrand. She taught school in Hemingford for 2 years. She married Jacob Clayton on December 23,1933 in Hastings. They farmed at Bertrand for one year after which they moved to the sand hills north of Burwell.. They stayed on the ranch for 5 years. In 1940 they moved to Ord where her husband was employed by Noll Seed Co. They later managed the Parkview Motel for several years

 
 
 
Newsclipping SERVICES HELD SAT FOR MORRIS L FREEMAN 1970

Morris Freeman, 53,of Burwell died unexpectedly Wed evening, Sept 23, after suffering a heart attack near Ord. Mr and Mrs Freeman and family had taken a pickup to Ord and loaded a refrigerator and were enroute back to Burwell when Morris was stricken. The Ord emergency unit was summoned, but Morris was pronounced dead on arrival at the Valley Co Hospital.

Funeral services were held Sat Sept 26 at the United Methodist Church in Burwell, with the Rev Richard Shapland officiating. Mrs Dale Harrod was soloist, Mrs Merle Edghill was accompanist. Selections were "In the Garden", and "Beyond the Sunset."

Pallbearers were Billy Richardson, Anson Kinney, Terrell Sanders, Ray Sears, Robert Smolik, James Clabaugh. Militaryrites were by the Clifford Clark American Legion Post 298 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6155. Interment was in the Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell. Fleming Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Morris Lee Freeman, son of William P Freeman and Mary D Davis Freeman, was born June 27,1917 at Burwell, and passed on to his eternal home Sept 23,1970 at the age of 53 years 2 months and 27 days. Morris lived on a farm in the Burwell Colmmunity with his parents and attended the Midvale District grade school. On Oct 13,1941, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Moore in Burwell. To this union 6 children were born. On Oct 16,1941, (three days after his wedding) Morris entered the US Army and received his training at Fort Sill, Okla. And went from there to the South Pacific where he served in the field artillery until his discharge in Nov of 1945, without ever receiving a furlough. Upon returning home he took up his interest in life by returning to farming and ranching, until he moved to Burwell in 1952. He then worked in sand and gravel work as a truck driver and pumper until suffering his heart attack.

Morris joined the Methodist Church in April, 1959, He also was an active member of the Clifford Clark American Legion Post 298 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6155. He also served as special police at the Legion Hall and was well liked and respected in this work.

Morris was well liked by his friends and will always be remembered as a good husband and loving father. He loved his grandchildren and will be greatly missed by all who knew him..

Morris was preceded in death by his mother in 1946 and hisfather last year. His brother, Harvey and infant sister, Emma May.

Left to hold sacred his memory are his widow, Dorothy; his children, Marilyn, Mrs John Kolar of Sargent, Morris Lee Jr of Burwell, Wilberta, Mrs Verlin Hood of Grand Island, Richard, Cheryl Zandra all at home. His step mother Wilheminia of Ord, his brothers, Harold of Burwell, Ray of Sioux City, Virgil of Burwell, Milo of North Platte, his sisters, Luverda Long of Burwell, and Esther, Mrs Jim Taylor of Amelia. Three grandsons, one granddaughter, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and a host of friends.
 


 
 
Funeral services for Lloyd Tetschner, Sr were held Monday April 14,1980 at 2 pm at Fleming Funeral Home in Burwell, with Rev Phillip Prickett officiating. Organist was Mrs Merle Edghill and soloist was Marty Newsclipping TETSCHNER RITES HELD IN BURWELL

Pallbearers were Keith Harrod, Duane Mattley,Mark Gorbal, Bud Fisher, Paul Oxford, and Rolland Jurgensen.

Burial was in the Cottonwood Cemetery with the Fleming Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Lloyd Albert Tetschner Sr was born April 16,1913 to Otto and Mary Mauer Tetschner at Burwell, Nebr and died April 11,1980 at the Burwell Community Hospital in Burwell, Nebr at the age of 66 years. In 1941 Lloyd was untied in marriage to Lucina Moore at Ord In 1969 Lucina died and in 1972 he was united in marriage to Joanne Wright. Lloyd worked at the Burwell Sale Barn and the Burwell Rodeo for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Joanne, two sons, Lloyd Jr and his wife Sharon, and Glenn and his wife, Sherry, all of Burwell, two stepsons, Bob Wright of Texas and Perry Wright of Fremont.

Two step daughters Sandra Raybeck of Ill and Linda Williams of Ogallala four grandchildren, Stacy, Laura, Andrew and Benjamin all of Burwell four step grandchildren one brother, Ernest and his wife Lola of Burwell, three sisters, Mrs Charley (Florence) Davenport, Mrs Otis (Carrie)Conner, and Mrs Wayne (Mable) Nelson and their husbands all of Burwell plus nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife.


 
 

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MARY E TETSCHNER CONDUCTED MARCH 3

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, March 3,1963 at the Urbauer Funeral home,for Mrs Otto Tetschner, Rev Paul Marler officiated. The selections, "The Pilot’s Hand on Mine", "Jesus Saver of my Soul", and "Tell Mother I’ll Be There" were sung by Rev and Mrs K E Remick, Mrs LaMoyne Graves, accompanist.

Pallbearers were Lyle Myers, Mickey Simpson, Charles Conner, Everett Johns, Garland Davenport. And William Schutt. Interment was made in Cottonwood Cemetery, Burwell, Nebraska.

Obituary

Mary Nora Mauer was born at Wabash, Indiana to Mary and Joseph Mauer, and passed away at theBurwell Hospital at 2:00 am on February 28,1963.

She came to Nebraska at the age of 12 years. She lived in and around Burwell the remainder of her life. She was married to Otto Tetschner on May 20,1900. To this union six children were born, one of whom died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband Otto, and five children, Mrs Florence Davenport, Mrs Carrie Conner, Lloyd and Ernest Tetschner all of Burwell, and Mrs Mabel Nelson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was a kind and devoted wife and mother, as well as a true friend, who will be remembered.


 
 
 
William Otis Conner was born May 10,1902 at Burwell, Nebraska to Joseph and Tracy (Fitzgerald) Conner. He passed away at the Valley County Hospital on Jan 8,1992. He was united in marriage to Carrie Tetschner on April 27,1932 at Ord, Nebr. They lived all their married life in Nebr at Burwell, Comstock and Taylor. He and his wife did janitorial work at the theatre, courthouse and laundromat for several years, lawn work for several people in the towns of Taylor and Burwell. In his early years he picked corn and worked in beet fields for several area farmers. His wife Carrie passed away Oct 1982.

Due to ill health and failing eyesight, he had resided in the Burwell Nursing Home the last two years and two months of his life. He was a kind and loving husband, a kind and caring man, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and one sister.

He leaves to mourn his passing, sister in law Mable Nelson and family, Florence Davenport and family, Joan Tetschner and family, brother in law Ernest Tetschner and wife Lola and family, Nieces: Betty Fredericks and family and Aletha Petersen and family, many more nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Services were held JaN 11,1992 at the United Methodist Church at 2:30 pm with the Rev Murray Johnston officiating. Music was provided by Brenda Brockman, Dixie Weber and Evelyn Pinckney.

Active pallbearers included Kenny Nelson, Glenn Tetschner, Jay Dee Tetschner, Dan Davenport, Gary Psota, and Charles Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers included Arthur Mohr, Virgil Kramer, Stanley Schmidt, Bill Fleming, Pete Clements,and Donald Fischer.
