Lee Park North Cemetery

LEE PARK NORTH CEMETERY
(CATHOLIC)

This is a public cemetery and is accessible from the road.  This cemetery is known as Lee Park Catholic Cemetery.  The Lee Park Protestant Cemetery is just ½ mile south of this one.  From Hwy. 70, go 8 miles east of Westerville, Custer County, Nebraska, then 1 mile north on the gravel road.

The land for this cemetery was originally owned by William Murray - who is interred there.  He later donated the land for the cemetery.  The historic old village of Lee's Park - now long gone - was one mile straight east from this cemetery - on the extreme western border of Custer County, Nebraska where it meets the extreme western border of Valley County, Nebraska.  The valley known as Lee's Park was located in both counties, as was the town of Lee's Park.  Mr. James Lee - first postmaster at Lee's Park and the man for whom the village was named - is also interred in this cemetery.
