Enon Cemetery


ENON CEMETERY


This cemetery is located just south of Ansley, Custer County, Nebraska and is also know as the Amsberry or Algernon Cemetery.  The former town of Algernon was located northeast from this cemetery.  It is not located on any maps and is not accessible from the road.  This list of tombstone inscriptions was done in the late 1960's.

Williams, Mary M.  Apr 26, 1951 - Nov 9, 1902 (large monument has cross with a woman in long robe clinging to cross and word "Love" above, word "Truth" to right side and word "Life" to left side of cross)


Following persons are known to be buried in Enon cemetery; taken from old records.


Amsberry, Olive and Edward, died 11 days apart in 1904 (no marker)  2 small children of Frank and Myrtle (Williams) Amsberry

Elison, Howard, mar 19, 1870 - Feb 4, 1944 and his son Calvert Clayton Elison, Apr 28, 1910 - Jan 20, 1919  (Lucy (Greenlee) Elison, widow of Howard Elison, was born May 14, 1878, died Oct. 12, 1962.  She is buried in Broken Bow cemetery - by her daughter Fern's decision due to lack of upkeep on this cemetery)


Greenlee, Jacob  Feb 12, 1853 - Apr 19, 1932;  and his wife, Rosetta (Amsberry)  Dec 14, 1855 - Aug 23, 1937
