Established 4 Jan 1873 - no settlement occurred and it was absorbed by McLean County. In the 1908 election it was voted to recreate the county from the eastern part of McLean. Reoganized Jan 1909 with county seat at McClusky. Named for Gen Philip Henry Sheridan (1831-1888) of Civil War fame.
Area 988.6 square miles.
2000 population -- 1,710.
