My mother was an "ORPHIN TRAIN" child, and she was raised by a family named Strader. Their Daughter was Tina Burkhartsmeier who ran the "Home Cafe" and lived in Rugby in 1940s, across the street from Littel Flower School. Her son Tony Burkhartsmeier had a house nest door, and owned a Bar nest to the Cafe. I am looking for any information on the Straders' such as probate records that might give a clue to my mothers real parents names. She was originally transported to North Dakota and subsequently taken in by the Straders but not adopted. I have contacted the New York Foundling Hospital for information. I hope you can assist me in this indevor. Thank you, from the son of a rider.

researching G-Grandparents. Angus BAKKEN bn FEB-1842 emigrated from Norway in 1875. Caren (Karen) bn Sep 1865, emigrated from Norway 1880. They were married in 1885/6. Their children were; Anton bn 01-Mar-1884, Emma bn May-1888, Clara bn Jul-1890, Anna bn May-1893, Alice (or Elise) bn Apr-1896, Albert bn 1902,
and Esther bn 1907. Anton, my Grandfather, was born in ND but I don't know where. The other children were all born in Barton (we think). Anton married Alma Karulina Lander (also from Barton), 1908. Angus is on the 1900 census. But, by 1910 it lists Caren as head-of-household. I have not been able to locate a gravesite or obit for Angus. Don't know where Karen went later. Would like to locate ancestors of my Grandfather's siblings. Please respond with any info to - ZOOGAL0@alo.com - happy

Research Great-Grandparents: Nils Lander bn 23-Dec-1853, emigrated from Sweden in 1890. His wife, Kjersti (later known as Christine) bn 23-Feb-1861 followed Nils to America with their 3 daughters in 1892. The daughters were; Ellen Maria bn 239-Oct-1880, Anna Amelia bn 20-May-1882, and Alma Karulina (my Grandmother) bn 20-May-1885 They first went to Minnesota, where the next 2 daughters were born; Hilma Leonea bn 15-Apr-1893 and Clara Elina Ruth bn 17-Sep-1895. By 1900 census the family is settled in Barton. My Great-Grandfather was naturalized there. His papers only show his place of birth as Sweden. My Grandmother married Anton Bernt Bakken in Barton or Rugby. She had a double wedding with her sister Anna, who married Tideman Ruud. I don't know if my G-Grandfather had any siblings who immigrated with him, but am hoping. He may have had a brother named Pehr and a sister named Elma. There is also mention in the family bible of a Hanna Joppson, but I don't know what her relationship is. If any of these names are familiar please E-mail ZOOGAL0@aol.com
