Mrs. Martha Magdelina (Wiedrich) Isaak, born 22 Jan 1904; died 03 Feb 1999

CENTER -- Martha Magdelina Wiedrich Isaak, 95, Center, died Feb. 3, 1999 in the Beulah nursing home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. CST Monday, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Center, with the Rev. John Erickson officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Center.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. MST Sunday at the Knife River Care Center in Beulah and after 4:30 p.m. CST Sunday at the church in Center.

Martha Magdelina Wiedrich was born on Jan. 22. 1904, on a farm at Krundahl, the daughter of George and Katherina (Ensminger) Wiedrich. Raised and educated at Mannhaven, she married Arthur H. Isaak on Oct. 10, 1925. They lived in Krem and Hazen before moving to Center in 1944 where they owned and operated Isaak and Sons Cash Store until 1951. She also worked for the Oliver County State Bank, as a waitress at the local cafe and assisted her husband at the Oliver County Treasurers Office. A member of the Center American Legion Auxiliary, the St. Paul Lutheran Ladies Aide, and the Center Golden Age Club, Martha was especially well known for her homemade fleichkeichle which she sold in the Center community. She had been a resident of the Knife River Care Center in Beulah since March of 1991.

Martha is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Calvin and Loretta Isaak, Littleton, Colo., Reuben Isaak, Jim and Diane Isaak, all of Bismarck, and Luella Isaak, Center; five daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Jimey Hickok, Penryn, Calif., Martene and Douglas Price, Hensler, Betty Lou and Donald Davenport, Battle Lake, Minn., Judy and Jim Johnson, Beulah, Donna and James Miller, Coon Rapids, Minn., and Gerald Mastin, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; 31 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur who died on Aug. 2, 1994; two daughters, Mary Ann Isaak and Vera Mastin; three sons, Paul, Robert and Benjamin; and 11 brothers and sisters. (Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan)

Paul A. Isaak, born 04 Jan 1928; died 20 Sep 1998

CENTER -- Paul A. Isaak, 70, Center, died Sept. 20, 1998, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Center, with the Revs. John Erickson and G.G. Neuberger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with military rites by Center American Legion.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today and will continue at the church one hour prior to services.

Paul was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Hazen, the son of Arthur and Martha (Wiedrich) Isaak. He was raised in Krem and attended rural grade school there. He attended high school in Hazen, graduating in 1944. Paul served in the U.S. Army for two years. When he returned from the service, he worked for Isaak Cash Store in Center and the 18K Food Market in Bismarck. He married Luella Weigum, Nov. 23, 1950. In 1951 he began working for Standard Oil and operated the bulk station, first in Sanger and then in Center until 1968. He worked construction for Froechle and Sons and Northern Improvement until 1970. He then was employed by Minnkota Power Cooperative until his retirement in 1990.

Paul loved his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed golf, hobby farming, gardening and playing cards with friends and family. Paul will always be remembered for his wit and jokes.

He is survived by his wife, Luella; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Lil, Bismarck, Byron and Tere, Highland Ranch, Colo., and Burt and Brent, both of Center; his mother, Martha, Beulah; three brothers, Calvin, Littleton, Colo., Reuben and Jim, both of Bismarck; five sisters, Lucille Hickock, Penryn, Calif., Marlene Price, Hensler, Betty Lou Davenport, Battle Lake, Minn., Judy Johnson, Beulah, and Donna Miller, Coon Rapids, Minn.; and six grandchildren, Heather and Eric, Bismarck, Ahna and Nick, Highland Ranch, and Jamie and Jyler, Center.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur; two brothers, Robert and Benjamin; and two sisters, Mary Ann and Vera.

    Reuben R. "Ike" Isaak, born 16 Jan 1934; died March 20, 2003

    Reuben R. "Ike" Isaak, 69, Bismarck, died March 20, 2003, at his home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with the Revs. Jeff Tengesdal and Laurie Natwick officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery.

    Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

    Reuben was born Jan. 16, 1934, in Krem, N.D., the son of Arthur and Martha (Wiedrich) Isaak. He was raised in Krem, Hazen and Center, and graduated from Center High School and Jamestown College.

    Ike served in the U.S. Army, and following his discharge, worked for the Department of the Army and Navy as a civil servant for 30 years. His service took him around the world, and included time in Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Germany and many posts in the United States. He retired in 1995, and moved to Bismarck.

    Ike was his mother's sweetheart. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds, Bingo and playing Pinochle.

    He is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Lucille and Jim Hickok, Penryn, Calif., Marlene and Doug Price, Hensler, Betty Lou and Don Davenport, Battle Lake, Minn., Judy and Jim Johnson, Beulah, and Donna and Jim Miller, Battle Lake; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Cal and Loretta Isaak, Littleton, Colo., and Jim and Diane Isaak, Bismarck; one sister-in-law, Lu Isaak, Center; one brother-in-law, Jerry Mastin, Pelican Rapids, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Vera Mastin and Mary Ann Isaak; and three brothers, Paul, Robert and Benjamin Isaak.
