The 1917 plat map shows an O.J. BEAVER owning NE 1/4 of Sect. 2 of Havelock Township, Hettinger Co. I don't know anything more about this person, but would like his full name and any additional facts.
My grandmother, CLARA M. BEAVER , worked at the McKenzie Hotel after proving up her claim. I believe she homesteaded in the area about 1905-1910. Also during the same period, her brother, BERNARD O. BEAVER and a cousin, JOHN C. BEAVER , had land in the Dickinson area. They did not marry, have children, or die in Hettinger Co. They may not have been present during censuses, but my grandmother may have been in New England for the state census of 1905.
The New England Herald may mention her. She may have visited New England by train from MN. on her honeymoon in Spring of 1911 and stayed at the McKenzie Hotel. A postcard of the hotel with note from Mrs. McKenzie to Mrs. OISETH (my grandmothers married name) and their details of information suggests that this may have occurred,
Her husband, NICK OISETH, may also have owned land in the Hettinger Co. area.
Looking for someone willing to check deeds at Mott and Amidon, in Slope Co. I will exchange MN research, or pay fee for time and effort.

At the courthouse in Dickinson, I found a deed dated 1906 for 640 acres (all of sect. 13 of Havelock Township, Hettinger Co.) purchased by CHRISTIAN M. BEAVER. I guess the deed was at Dickinson because Hettinger was not yet organized? Christian remained a resident of Dodge Co., MN and at his death in 1911 an obit mentioned he owned 640 acres in ND. A 1917 plat map shows the land belonging to a Joseph Becker and a Joseph Stecher.

MELBY
MELBY, Severin - Norwegian immigrant, lived in New England in 1920's or 1930's, believed to have been a carpenter and/or contractor. Married with 5 or 6 children. He died in June 1923. Widow moved to San Diego. One daughter may have been named Lily and one son may have been named Waldemar (Valdemar?). My research on this line is just beginning - all the information I have outlined above is undocumented (from family members) and very sketchy, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

MONTGOMERY/ARMSTRONG
My paternal grandmother Emma Miranda Montgomery remarried sometime after 1910 to George W. ARMSTRONG. She died in Regent on Jan 8, 1931. I seek any information about their marriage date, especially about Mr. Armstrong, where he was born, died, an obituary for either or both from a local paper, friends, relatives, any data or anecdote much appreciated. Maybe even a marriage application or newspaper notice? I need help. I've exhausted my resources.
HAGEN, MELBY
I'm trying to find any information available on Emma Hagen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Hagen of New England, ND. She was married on July 6, 1915 at Glendive, Montana to my great-uncle
Severin Melby who was a contractor. He built many schools in the area and was building a school in Reeder, ND when he died as a result of an accident on the job June 28, 1923.
ARMSTRONG/MONTGOMERY
I seek information about George Armstrong who married my maternal grandmother, Emma Miranda Montgomery, and lived in Regent. Emma died in Regent in 1931, but I do not know when George died, or where. He does not show on the SSDI, so his death date must be earlier than 1939. Can anyone help me locate information about this person? I would be most grateful because I am presently at a dead end.
HETTINGER or CRAFTON
My grandmother, Lucille Matilda Hettinger, was a Sioux Indian from the Dakotas. All relatives have died who could provide additional information. I have been looking for information about her for years and the "coincidence" of your county name and location in what was traditional Sioux land prompted me to write.
HIRSCH
Looking for information about Frank and Monica Hirsch. Farmed northeast of Mott.
HARVEY/OLBERT
I am looking for information on the marriage of my grandfather Joseph Olbert to Ruth Morrel Harvey in March, 1913, I believe it may have occurred in or around Burt, North Dakota.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
DORNER
Researching the family of Anton DORNER and Franceska MILLEN, my great grandparents. Anton emigrated from Hungary 1902 from Bremen, Germany, arriving port of Baltimore, Md., with sons George and Mathias DORNER. Franceska, obviously came at a later date---- with other children??? Franceska, died May 27, 1907, buried St. Elizabeth's Cemetery, Lefor, ND. Their son Michael DORNER comitted suicide by strychnine poisoning while working on the Anton Herberholz farm in July 1910. Would very much like more information on the son Michael and on Franceska's family. Who were her parents, brothers and sisters?? Anton and son Joseph DORNER both died December 1918 and are buried St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, New England, ND. Anton's certified death certificate states he was the father of 14 children, I can only document 6. Who and where are the rest of the family??? Any and all help gratefully acknowledged
