Will of Mira Chatman North Carolina Rutherford County March 02, 1903 I Mira Chatman of the aforesaid County & State being of sound mind but considering the mortainty/mairtainty (mortality) of me (my) earthly existince (existence) do make and declare this my last will & testament. First, my executor hereinafter named shall give my body a dicent (decent) burial suitable to the wishes of my friends & relatives and pay all funeral expenses together is with all my Just debts out of the first money which may come into his hands belonging to my estate. Second I give & desise (desire) to my son Lewis the tract of which I now own containing 23 twenty three acris (acres) being the tract which I purchased of A B Blanton. Now if my son Lew should die before he is twenty one years of age thin (then) this said land shall be equally devided (divided) between my neaces (nieces); to wit: Florey Chatman, Carey Chatman & Etta Blanton. And whereas my Son Lewis a minor of the age of three years and will not be of full age of twenty one until the twenty second day of May 1929. Now my will & desire is that my brother Columbus be & is hereby constituted and appointed guardian of the said Lew to have & to hold the custody of his estate until the said Lew shall arrive at the full age of twenty one years. I hereby constitute & appoint my brother Columbus lawful executor to all intents & purposes to execute this my last will & testiment (testament) according to the true intent and meaning of the same and my part & claus (clause) thereof hereby making and declaring utterly void all other wills & testaments by me heretofor made in witness whereof I the - I also want my brother Columbus to take my son Lew & rase (raise) him & to give him a common school education - the said Mira Chatman do herebyto set my hand & seal this second day of March one thousand nine hundred and three. Mira Chalman (Chatman) Seal Witness A J Blanton Witness J V Bright Probate of the Will of Mira Chapman North Carolina Rutherford County State of North Carolina In the Superior Court Rutherford County A Paper purporting to be the last will and testament of Mira Chapman deceased is exhibited before me, the undersigned clerk of the Superior Court of Rutherford County by R C Chapman, the executor therein mentioned, and the due execution thereof by the said Mira Chapman by the Oath & examination, of A J Blanton and J V Bright the subscribing witness thereto; who being duly sworn, Oath depose and say & each for himself deposeth & saith, that he is a subscribing witness to the paper - writing now shown him be porting to be the last Will & Testament of Mira Chapman, that the said Mira Chapman in the presence of this deponent subscribed his name at the end of said paper - writing which is now shown as aforesaid, which bears date of the 2nd day of March 191 (1911). And the deponent further saith, that he said Mira Chapman the testament aforesaid did at the time of subscribing his name as aforesaid declare the said paper - writing to subscribed by her & exhibited to be her last will & testament, & this deponent did therefore Subscribe his name at the end of said will as an attesting witness thereto and of the request & in the presence of said testament. And this deponent further saith, that at the time when said testament subscribed her name to the said last will as aforesaid, and at the time of the deponents subscribing his name as an attesting witness thereto, as aforesaid, the said Mira Chapman was of sound mind and memory of full age to execute a will & was not under any restraint, to the knowledge information or belief of this deponent: And further these deponents say not.
