Mr Walter Reid Skinner, 80, of 1400 Burke Road, Shelby, NC, passed away Friday, May 14, 2010. Services were held at Trinity Baptist Church, Mooresboro, NC. Burial followed in Cleveland Memorial Park.
Mr Skinner Served our country in the US Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Gaston and Juanita Bridges Skinner; 1 brother, Henry Skinner; 2 sisters, Sue Talent Ware and Edith Skinner; and 1 granddaughter.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marjorie Hamrick Skinner; 2 sons, Reid Skinner and wife Teresa, and Larry Skinner and wife Kathy, all of Shelby, NC; 1 daughter, Sandy Skinner Piercey and husband Randy of Shelby NC; 3 brothers, Fay Skinner, Ben Skinner and George Skinner; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and 3 step-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Trinity Baptist Church, 748 Trinity Church Road, Mooresboro, NC 28114; or to: Hospice and Palliative Care of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150; or to: Shanghai Volunteer Fire Department, 1435 Burke Road, Shelby, NC 28152-8160.
