Big Springs was organized on 5 Sep 1818, probably in a brush arbor or clearing.

The first church built was a log cabin. As the church grew, a larger building was needed and a two-story frame building was built. Years later, that building was replaced by the current brick building. Several years ago, a separate building was built allowing for a larger fellowship hall, kitchen and classrooms in the basement.
