Located at 201 East Main Street in Haw River, our museum is housed in a building which was previously our fire hall. The building is approximately 145 years old. We have many photographs, artifacts and memorabilia on display and are continually receiving donations of historic items.
The Haw River Historical Association Museum held its Grand Opening on Saturday, May 31, 1997 and Sunday, June 1, 1997. Two hundred people toured the museum. The Laird house was opened to visitors. Three hundred people toured this historic home which was built by Governor Holt's daughter and son-in-law in about 1890.. Four impersonators at the cemetery entertained 100 visitors. All festivities were free to the public.
Museum Hours: Saturday & Sunday 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM and at other times by special arrangement.*
