The Forsyth County Genealogical Society was formally organized in 1982. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving local history and helping genealogists in their work. We assist genealogists through educational programs, workshops and publications.

The Society meets on the FIRST TUESDAY of each month at 6:30 PM. Because the Main Branch of the Forsyth County Public Library at 660 West Fifth Street in Winston-Salem, NC is undergoing renovation, we will meet in the auditorium of the Reynolda Branch Library at 2839 Fairlawn Drive in Winston-Salem, NC, until further notice. Other venues are sometimes used, so please check the CALENDAR for information. We host programs of genealogical and historical interest. Visitors are always welcome! Our programs are FREE and OPEN to the public.

Our quarterly JOURNAL includes transcriptions of primary source materials, "how-to" articles, compiled family histories and much more. We also publish books of abstracted and transcribed records. Copies of the Journal are available in all Forsyth County Branch Libraries.
