In the name of God, Amen, I William Mitchell of
the County of Caswell and State of North Carolina being in a low
State of Health, but of perfect sence and memory Thanks be to
Almighty God for the blessing taking into consideration the
Shortness and uncertainty of this Transitory life and that it is
appointed for all men once to die, and being desirous to Set my
affairs in order therefore, I do make constitute and ordain this my
last Will and Testament in manner and form as follows:
And first I recommend my Soul into the Hands of Almighty God who
gave it, and my body I commit to the Earth from whence it was taken,
to be buried in Decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my
Executors who I shall hereafter appoint and at the expence of my
estate, and as to such worldly goods as it hath pleased God to bless
me with in this life. I will and dispose of them in the following
manner, Vix- First my will and desire is that all my just debts be
paid and the rest of my estate to be disposed of as hereafter
mentioned.
Secondly: I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Mitchell one
feather bed and furniture (it being a bed that is usually called
hers) to her and her heirs and assigns for ever.
Thirdly: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Mitchell one
feather bed, and furniture that is usually called hers, to her and
her heirs or assigns for ever.
Fourthly: I give and bequeath to my daughter Susanah Mitchell one
feather bed, and furniture, that is usually called hers, to her or
her heirs or assigns for ever.
Fifthly: I give and bequeath to my son John, my daughter Scicily, my
son William Henslee, my son James, my daughter Nancy and my daughter
Elizabeth Cary, one feather bed and furniture each, to be purchased
by my executors for them as they come of age to receive them and to
be paid for out of my estate, to them their heirs or assigns for
ever.
Sisthly: My will and desire is that the residue of my estate both
real and personal, continue together for the mutual use and benefit
of my children for the raising and educating those that are not yet
raised and educated until the youngest shall come to age or marry,
and then the whole of my estate both real and personal that is
remaining in the hands of my Executors, I leave to be sold and the
money arising from such sale to be equally divided among the whole
of my children or their heirs or assigns.
Lastly I nominate appoint and ordain my friend John Henslee and my
son John Mitchell my Executors to carry into effect this my last
will and Testament—Witness my hand and seal, this fourth day of
January one thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Five.

January Court 1795 The execution of this will was duly proved in
open Court by the oaths of David Henslee and John Anderson two
Subscribing witnesses thereto and on motion ordered to be recorded.
At the same John Henslee and John Mitchell the Executors qualified.
