Civil War Service Records of those who enlisted in Caswell Co., North Carolina

Based on the numbers, it seems that almost every able bodied man in Caswell Co. enlisted during the Civil War.  We will add to the list as time allows and we invite you to share any service records you may have abstracted.  In other areas I have worked on, I have found that a number of blacks also served, often going with a slave owner or family member.  If you have any personal family stories or records of blacks who may have been in the war, we invite you to share them. He was born in Caswell Co. in 1847. He joined the 13th NC  Infantry, Company F in June, 1863, in Petersburg, VA. He was paroled at  Appomattox Court House, 10 April 1865. He applied for his pension in 1908-10,  and was finally granted it in 1911. He was a resident of Danville, VA for  many years. Sick on 21 June 1863 at Petersburg, VA . Returned about 30 July 1863. Promoted to Full Sergeant 1st Class on 01 February 1864 He was He was wounded on 03 August 1864 at Petersburg, VA and hospitalized on 05 August 1864 at Richmond, VA Furloughed on 18 November 1864.
