Sara Howard Dawson, 90, of Lenoir, died Sunday, March 07, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

Ms. Dawson was born in Brevard, N.C. to the late Millander M. Howard and Louise Duckworth Howard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers.

She was retired from the City of Asheville Police Department and was Secretary to the City Manager. She was a member of Lower Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sons, Robert William Dawson of Lenoir and Howard Alexander Dawson of Mt. City, Tenn.; a daughter, Diane D. Landis of Lenoir; a sister, Anna H. Parker of Greensboro; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, March 11, 2010 at Lower Creek Baptist Church at 4 p.m. with Pastor Todd Braswell officiating. A memorial service will immediately follow the graveside service in the church sanctuary.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
