Sarah Lucille Griffith, 75, of Meadowlane Drive, Granite Falls, died Thursday, March 4, 2010, at Valdese Hospital. She was born September 1, 1934, in Watauga County to the late Braskie and Myrtle Norris Cox. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Griffith; daughter, Billie Jean Barr; grandson, Charles F. Griffith; one brother; and one sister.

Mrs. Griffith was a homemaker.

Survivors include three sons, Thurman Howard Barr of Charlotte, Charles D. Griffith and wife Kelly of Valdese, and Thomas Shane Griffith of Granite Falls; two daughters, Mary Ann Auton of Granite Falls and Tracy Charlene Griffith of Lenoir; one brother, Conard Cox of Boone; one sister, Ruby Wilcox of Boone; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 7, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Leon Morrow and Bishop Carl Overton. Interment will follow at Mount Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
