Mabel Brown Deal, 91, of Plaza Street, Lenoir, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

She was born Nov. 20, 1918 in Watauga County to the late Steve and Beulah Moody Brown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Deal; two brothers, John Brown and Roy Brown; and one sister, Faye Nelson.

Mrs. Deal was retired from Thomasville Furniture and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Ms. Norma R. Mays of Lenoir; one brother, Lewis Brown of Boone; two grandchildren, Chad Mays and wife Tina of Charlotte, and Jason Mays and wife Brooke of Laurel, Md.; and four great-grandchildren, Maddox, Camden, Russell and Jacob.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Dr. Alan Carr. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Nelson, Steve Nelson, Kenny Nelson, Roger Baldwin, Kenneth Deal and Mike Deal.
