Lois Carlene Nelson, 63, of Lenoir, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital.

She was born September 2, 1946 in Avery County to the late Roy Townsend and Dare Shook Townsend. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper Leroy Nelson Jr.; and one daughter, Lois Lou Ann Moody.

She was a 30-year member of Celia Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Shelby Jean Murphy, Lori Lee Mcelyea and Carla Louise Nelson, all of Lenoir; three sons, Marvin Leroy Nelson, Randy Wade Nelson, both of Lenoir, and Roy Wayne Nelson of Morganton; 23 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 14, 2010 at 11 a.m., at Celia Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Richard Shew officiating and Mark Moody assisting. Burial will follow in the Celia Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Sunday prior to the service at the church.
