Mrs. Elizabeth Horton Reid, 96, of 348 Eastview Pl. NW, Lenoir, NC 28645 died March 6, 2010.

She was born June 15, 1913, in Wilkes County to the late George Horton and Cora Tilley Bowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Roosevelt Reid Sr.; daughter, Hannah Geneva Reid; three sisters, Effie Coles, Millie White and Florence Bowers; and three brothers, George William Horton, Howard Horton and Willie Ferman Ferguson.

Mrs. Reid was a member of Smith Memorial United Methodist Church, member of the Methodist Women and other organizations.

She is survived by seven sons, Jacob Quinton Reid of the home, Norris (Lillian) Reid of Jacksonvill, Fla., Mack Cicero (Sarah) Reid of Lenoir, N.C., Theodore Roosevelt Reid Jr. of Lenoir, N.C., James (Frances) Reid of Spring Valley, N.Y., Harold Edward (Janet) Reid of Lenoir, N.C., and the Rev. Jerry Lee (Pamela) Reid of Lenoir, N.C.; two daughters, Shirley (Roger) Hendrix of Ferguson, N.C., and Mary (Henry) Westfield of Charlotte, N.C.; three sisters, Murty Johnson of Glades Springs, W.Va., Sadie Teague of Taylorsville, N.C., and Dorothy Whittington of Omaha, Neb.; 32 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and three great-great-granchildren; also a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Smith Memorial United Methodist Church with the Revs. Alvin Brown, Rupert Ferguson, Jimmie L. Norwood Sr., Miller Carter and Pastor Billy Joe Lipford officiating.

The family will receive friends 1 to 1:55 p.m. at the church.
