Special Contributions
Friends of Hope Endowment
Established in 1981 by the Friends of Hope Committee, proceeds from this fund are used for staff salaries.
Margaret Long Tyler Endowment
Established in 1991 through a bequest by the late Mrs. Tyler, a matching gift from her family and contributions in her memory, proceeds from this fund are used for the completion and conservation of the reconstituted private library of Governor David Stone in the Roanoke-Chowan Heritage Center.
John E. Tyler, II, Endowment
Established in 1993 in honor of Mr. Tyler, proceeds from this fund are used for operating expenses at Historic Hope Plantation.
Hope Forest
A Capital Campaign Fund has been established by the Board of Directors to complete purchase of the 28 acres adjacent to the Hope Mansion and to provide funds for development of that property as an 18th century natural woodland.
Collections
Contributions are used to obtain the most representative pieces of regional craftsmanship to add to the outstanding Hope Collections and to provide for continuing conservation practices for the collections.
Education Programs
Funds are needed for continued development of programs in collaboration with Bertie County schools and other educational systems to increase student awareness of the rich history of the Roanoke-Chowan region. The Harry Lewis Thompson Classroom is designed to incorporate the resources of Hope Plantation in this project.
Historic Hope Research Library
Enhancement of the Foundation's mission of education requires a research library relating to Governor Stone, Hope Plantation and all phases of the history of the Roanoke-Chowan region. Funds are needed for appropriate volumes.
The Gray Farm Barn Restoration
This early 19th century barn from Suffolk, Virginia, is awaiting reassembly and restoration. The structure, dismantled by volunteers from Colonial Williamsburg, Inc., is believed to be the last typical "earth-fast" barn extant in this area of the southeast.
Landscaping and Gardens
Funds are needed for ongoing research and for plantings to support the continued development of the grounds and gardens at Historic Hope Plantation.
