| Bear
Trap Point Road is sort of a crescent, three miles or so in length on the
East side of Rte 540. Chapman cemetery is located on the northern end of
the crescent. Several graves have no identifying markers.

[Note:- about two (3 km for the metric minded) miles further on toward Richmond Corner, on Rte 540, there is a gravel pit which has at least one or two people buried there. The operator of this pit unknowingly cut into the graves while removing gravel. Only when the load was dumped, were bones noticed. Investigation revealed a couple of tombstone fragments hidden amongst the brush and trees with the name: Sarah, wife of Samuel McIntyre, died Jun 24, 1887, aged 73 years, engrave thereon. A smaller stone has the initials: S. McI. No doubt this Graham is a close relative.] |
